One of the books I'm reading now is Runaway, a book of short stories by Alice Munro. This passage from a story called "Trespasses" seemed particularly beautiful:
"The thing about life, Harry had told Lauren, was to live in the world with interest. To keep your eyes open and see the possibilities--see the humanity--in everybody you met. To be aware. If he had anything at all to teach her it was that. Be aware.

This is my first book by Munro, and I notice that she comments quite a bit on characteristics of people from different areas of Canada. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I agree...love Atwood's take on Canada as well. Be aware...very nice quote...it's so easy to not have our eyes open....it seems our eyes are more open when we've lost something or are in a panic.
