How does your character handle tough situations or conflict? Why does he/she respond that way?

For a “4”: Did I….
• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?
• Provide context of what is happening in the text, so my reader understands what I’m talking about?
• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Kimora Irby | 25 comments In my book "Bad Boy" By Walter Dean Myers. My character handles tough situations by yelling at people and try to start a fight with someone. My character is very aggressive and he has a very strong vibe like if you say something in the wrong way he, might get offended. His from a very bad neighborhood so he kind of has to act and talk tough to prove that his bad. In chapter one there was a part where his friends were picking fights with jewish kids and he felt like since they were doing it, he should jump in and do it too.

Ivan (ivanski711) | 30 comments In the book The Demond King by Cindis W. Chima my main chracter Han handles situations in many different ways. For example he would go to the clan and get ways to solve those probles from wise wizards. Another way he would handle situation is that he will drink a posion to relax his mind loke a drug. This shows that my character will solve situation differently deppending on the situation. Han respond like this beecause he has to much to do so he has no time to personaly solve his own situations.

Mark | 33 comments In my book The Necromancer by Michael Scott one of the main characters Pernelle Flamel the way she would handle tough situations is she would usually try to be calm and think it through so she can solve her situations correctly and not do anything unreasonable or mess up anything. Sometimes in the book Pernelle doesn’t just rush in and use her powers she thinks it through and she carefully explains what she is going to do. A quote from the book”. Pernelle what are you doing ow! That’s my leg it will take years to grow that back you know how long it takes for a spider to grow back there leg. “This shows that she planed on cutting the spiders leg off. This shows what one of my characters in my book would do in a hard situation.

Monica | 43 comments Amy Plum's fantasy book, Die For Me had one main tough situation so far. The main protagonist, Kate has just lost both of her parents in a car accident. She was disappointed and upset when that happened, and she felt that she will never find happiness ever again. Kate spended the next few days, completely shutting herself off by ignoring people, and locking herself in her room. Her sister, Georgia, her grandparents, whom she had to spend her whole life with forever, tried to convince her to go outside and spend time with some of her friends or taking a breath of fresh air. On the other hand, Georgia didn't seem worried at all, she immediately dealed with the situation by hanging out with her friends in bars and parties. Kate didn't feel like doing any of those things at all. For example, in the text, Georgia tells her sister,"It helps me forget. It helps me feel alive. I'm just as sad as you are, Katie-Bean. But this is the only way I know of dealing with it."(6). This quote shows that even though, Georgia also misses her parents, she takes the time of being smart and keeps her mind off of them and still enjoys life. That way, she won't remember the bad things that happened and she would move on, which is why Kate listened to her sister and went out for a walk the following day.

Jack Brill | 41 comments In the book "Always Running" by Louis J. Rodriguez my character doesn't handle conflict very well. For example someone almost killed the main characters brother and instead of reporting this problem to the authorities he then went after the guy and killed him. This shows that the main character doesn't handle situations vey well. The main character responds this way because he has an anger management problem and he is in a gang and he claims "that's what gang members do."

Melanie M. (MissMello) | 21 comments In the book "Drama High;Hustlin" By L.Divine, My character,Jayd, handles conflict just like me. She would ask her mom or her grandmother;Whom she calls Mama, on what to do if she faces a problem. They always would say just talk to the person about it but this is reality We,as young adults don't even do that. Talking to the person about the problem you have a problem with is just too mainstream. All the drama that comes Jayd's way? She just stores it in her mind and just lays down and try and calm down but once more and more "Drama" comes her way she finally explodes. My character is just like me.

In the realistic fiction book "Zen and the Art of Faking it" by Jordan Sonnenblick, the protagonist named San Lee has a special way that many people use in real life to handle problems. San Lee is an 8th grader in Texas, but has to move to Pennsylvania due to his father. His father had committed crimes for money, which caused him and his mother to move. After moving to Pennsylvania, San continues school with only his adoptive mother. San had easily fit into the community and got interested into a girl named Woody. As San continues his life in school, he has a lot of problems outside of school. One example of San handling a problem is on page 35, "that my dad had sold fake title insurance in Alabama, performed home inspections without a license in California, sold spoiled meat to restaurants off the back of a truck in Dallas..." Then it continued, "Dad went to prison until at least my twentieth birthday, I never saw Sparky again, and Mom and I wound up in Nowhereville, Pennsylvania..." This shows how San had handled a conflict. When his father was arrested and he had nothing left, he ignored the issue and moved on by going to another state. This proves that San handles some conflicts by ignoring them and moving on. San had also done this method with other conflicts in the text.
