Parent control is a major issue at least in my country!!!!Parents force us on what we have to become in future and whom do we have to marry.....

It is our life and we are mature enough to make decisions...

So speakers What are your Ideas on it?

Guiding your kid and making him perfect is one thing and controling is another!!!

I am from India. See, the problem, in my country, is that the history and culture has been constricted and the way a child is raised by parent is protective. When I look back to the way my parents were raised by their parents, certainly there is lesser control. But when we compare it with other countries, we certainly do feel that we are under parental control.

I am 23, independent, earning and everything, but parental control is prominent on me also. I would just say, that the air of revolution has begun, it will certainly take time for the mind set and thinking to evolve, but the change will come. In a way this parental control is showing their protectiveness towards us and they don't want us to make mistakes in life etc. But as a person, if we don't make mistakes, we would never learn. So, this love should be a little control free.

I agree with aashi. I can understand that parents care about us byt sometimes this caring extends a bit.

How i wish that my parents had ideas like us!

When i was kid, i was really naughty and i act like a tomboy maybe it's because i used to follow my brother and my cousin.My brother and i was always passed by a relative to a relative cause my mother is working abroad and my father is dead.We always get what we wanted but we never act like a BRAT.We have money,we have nanny but STILL they teach us To wash our own clothes,to wash the dishes,to cook,to clean,to learn all the houseworks then after some time we never hired a domestic helper again.Our parents used to discipline us.Like spanking,kneeling in salt with an encyclopedia book in my hand all day,slapping my mouth if i said a bad word,locked me up in the room,etc.

I would always think i'd rather die than to be with this kind of family BUT as i grew up, when i think back when i was a child, I realized that everything they do was for me to learn my mistakes and to be a disciplined person and know what RESPECT is.

I'm really grateful to them because i learned what life is and they thought me how to be tough and to be always polite.They turned me into who i am now.

NOW i am living with my bro in our house only the two of us and learning to be independent at 16 years old.I am proud of what i am now and thanks to them.

Spanking doesn't work! I have never been spanked and I'm a pretty good kid. But parents...if they try too hard to control every aspect of a child's lifre, the kid will end up doing something stupid to rebel.

My life is totally controlled by my parents....My parents have decided a career for me which i don't want to become....they take all my decisions....I mean,sometimes i feel like do i have ANY ACCESS on my own life????

It is our life and we will have to live it when we grow up,we will have to face the difficulties alone...no one is gonna help us....So,why can't our parents let us do what our heart says!!!

I can understand that they care about us but caring sooooooooo much is totally wrong!!!!How can a bird fly if she is not taught to when she is young

YEAH I HAVE EXPERIENCED THAT TOO...AND I'LL NEVER FORGET IT.
after that i never repeat that mistake again.

SO I THINK SPANKING or HURTING IS A "NO" to discipline a child....I'm thankful to them, BUT i will never do that to my children cause i know it's a lot to take for a child.
