What's the first favorite SK novel that comes to your mind?

message 10: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 1195 comments Mod
Carrie. Then Misery, because it was 1st King. You?

message 11: by Holly (new)

Holly | 745 comments Mod
It. I also love Carrie and Misery, but It has always stood out to me for some reason.

message 12: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 1195 comments Mod
Well, IT is definitely synonymous with King. I'm glad that you also love Carrie & Misery.

Holly | 745 comments Mod
Have you read The Wind Through the Keyhole?

message 19: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 60 comments My favorite King book is Gerald's Game. I have had some people say that it's their least favorite. It just seems so real and possible to me ... makes it scarier I think. I like his non-fiction too. When I read Guns I felt like I was sitting with him and having a face-to-face discussion with him.

message 20: by Holly (new)

Holly | 745 comments Mod
Gerald's Game is awesome, Michelle. I could never understand why some people didn't like it.

message 21: by Malina (new)

Malina I love all SK books!

message 22: by Janie (new)

The Stand is good. I think it might be time for a re-read of that one soon...

message 26: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson hehe Holly I have it on my reread list. LOL

message 27: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) The Talisman was my all time favourite (if that counts) followed by the Dark Tower books. I also loved the Running Man.

message 28: by Holly (new)

Holly | 745 comments Mod
We should do a buddy read for it Janie. :-)

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

It is a must for any DT fan, Holly. It's a very magical book, IMO.

Sean Brennan | 32 comments The genius about King is that you always feel that he, whatever book of his, you are reading, he wrote it just for you!

Critics didn't like him because he was sooo popular and better than the vast majority of pretentious bullshit that they favour.

The Stand and The Dark Tower are without doubt masterpieces.

message 37: by Holly (new)

Holly | 745 comments Mod
Thanks Dustin. I hope to get my hands on it soon.

Agreed Sean, he did write all his books just for me and I love him for it! heh! I also agree that most of his books are masterpieces. His characters in the DT series are clearly the most memorable for me. I will never forget them.

I have recently replaced my copy of the Stand, it got pretty messed up, and I def needed a new copy! LOL

A couple years ago, I had to replace my copy of The Stand, as well, due to the former's poor quality..

message 42: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson I actually had 2 copies. The normal one and then the uncut version, which was the one I read. I was a smoker and that did not help matters either along with moving and them being shifted around.

message 43: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 1195 comments Mod
I am a former smoker, as well, Janie. And I've also read both versions. The original once, and the unabridged twice.

message 44: by Holly (new)

Holly | 745 comments Mod
So am I! Thought I couldn't quite; one of the easiest things I've ever done. Now I'm feeling great and don't look back. No regrets!! :-D

message 45: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson Yay Same here Holly. If you quit in your mind and you ready yourself for it, it can be much easier. If you try to quit and your mind is not ready to let go, your in for one heck of a battle. I was ready to quit because my family was worth so much more than those darn cigarettes. With that in mind it was not as hard as I thought. I thank God for giving me the strength and the mindset to accomplish it.

Couldn't have said it better myself Janie. :-)

Wow, you're a former smoker, too, Holly? I had no idea!!
When I quit (this December will be 3 years,) I didn't really have a choice. Money was tight, being the holidays and all, and once our money and the smokes were gone, that was it. I took it as a clear sign that it was time for me to quit. And although the first few days- 1 week were tough and stressful, the process was relatively easy.

message 48: by Holly (new)

Holly | 745 comments Mod
Yep I am Dustin. I had no idea you used to smoke either!
