Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Questions about a task or certain books? Ask them below.

message 2: by Diana S (new)

Diana S Just a FYI - Kristin is the one that suggested Movies Only #15.1

message 3: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Thanks for letting me know. Must have written it wrong on the paper.

message 4: by Melanie (new)

Melanie For the Fairy Tales task, can you point this blondie in the right direction for the Grimm Brother's copies of Cinderella and Snow White.

Im only finding these ones (Snow White and Rose Red and http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22...) but they are only 32 pages long.

For the first part of the task surely thebooks have to be longer than 32 pages, right?

message 5: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) That's fine! I don't have a page minimum for y'all.

message 6: by Jojobean (new)

Jojobean for the water scene on the cover~ is it ok for it to be a mermaid in water?

That will work fine Joanne!

Diana S I'm having a hard times finding brothers grimm's books for the 4 princesses. Can we read the disney books? I'm finding some of those.

I have the entire brothers Grimm book with all the tales. It shouldn't be too hard to find a copy at the library because I think the Disney ones would be considered a retelling although they are fairly similar to the originals.

Thanks Meghan! I guess I'm looking at the wrong spot in the library catalog. I look for that one.

message 11: by Jojobean (new)

Jojobean The grimm brother's book are just the original fairy tales. Some are really short. They can be found in any Grimm's Fairytale anthologies

Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales by Jacob Grimm Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales by Jacob Grimm Grimms' Complete Fairy Tales by Jacob Grimm

message 12: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yep. I bought one from Amazon a few days ago. Goodreads, of course, doesn't have the one that I got, but it has what looks to be all of their stories in it.

Book: http://www.amazon.com/Grimms-Fairy-Ta...

Diana S I'll think whats confusing me is how to count it in the completed tasks if we do the task twice. s:(

message 14: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) How to count the book? You could count the # of pages it spanned over, and count reading only that story as one book. I don't plan to claim a book or pages for the Grimm parts of that task.

message 15: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thanks Zakiya, for some reason I thoguht books had to be a minimum of 100 pages to fit the tasks. lol

message 16: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Nope lol. I don't think I'll ever put a minimum on here. Too worrisome if you ask me.

message 17: by Ellen (new)

Ellen | 4 comments Hi! I had a quick question about the Movies Only Task, do you mean the books that got turned into movies? If not, can you please clarify? (:

message 18: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Ellen, yes I think that is what Zakiya and Meghan are after.

Examples include Black Hawk Down, The Lion the witch and the wardrobe, Pride and Prejudice etc.

If there is a movie based on the book, I dare say it will count.

message 19: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Melanie, you answered correctly! As long as the book was turned into a movie, it will work. Likewise, if the movie was put out, and then someone wrote a book version of it, those will count as well.

message 20: by Ellen (new)

Ellen | 4 comments Awesome! Thanks for answering Melanie and Zakiya! I am definitely excited about this challenge! (:

message 21: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) That's good to hear!

message 22: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Im excited about that task too Ellen, I have so many books on my shelf that could fit that task.

message 23: by Diana S (last edited Jun 25, 2013 10:40PM) (new)

Diana S I have a question on 15.3 Last letter, First letter.
Does "A, An, The " count at the beginning of the title?
For example:
I read:
Chihuahua of the Baskervilles so I'll need a "S" for my next book.
Would The Sandcastle Girls count?

message 24: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) You've got it right! The, A, and An don't count. I'll add that to the task.

message 25: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) Hey,

For task 25.2 Summer Months, do we read only one book that fits each other the months themes or do we read three books, one for each month?

Thanks :)

message 26: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Hey, Heather! It's supposed to be one for each month. Sorry I didn't specify that. I'll do that now. (:

message 27: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) No problem! Just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

message 28: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Welcome :)

message 29: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Is anyone else planning to do Belle for the 50.1 task??? I'm starting to think the Grimm Brothers never wrote it in the first place.

message 30: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I think I had noted down that one Zakiya but I haven't had a look for the Grimm Brothers version yet.

message 31: by Zakiya (last edited Jul 14, 2013 12:10AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Quite difficult for me to find.. I got a book that said it was in there, but I couldn't find it whatsoever in the table of contents. Even Goodreads doesn't seem to have a page simply for a Grimm "Beauty and the Beast."

Whenever you look, let me know what you come up with! :)

So belle isn't based off a Grimm fairy tale. But another one by a woman... So I guess we can just change that portion.

message 33: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I just had a look at my notes and I only noted down the books for Cinderella and Snow White, sorry.

message 34: by Melanie (new)

Melanie According to Yahoo Answers (whether that can be believed or not) the Grimm Brothers didn't write Beauty and the Beast as it is French.

message 35: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Here is a website with some Grimm Brothers fairy tales if you want to read them online.

I see the first replier gave a link to one of the versions. I'll use that. Quite interesting that it's French.

Thanks, Melanie, for the other list as well!

Yeah, but what do we change it to?

message 38: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 278 comments Mod
We can change it to read the original fairy tale be the French lady. Or maybe we can make it a rapunzel task going with tangled. Or both...

message 39: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Anyone know what the original book was?? I can change it to that on here if Goodreads has it.
