Team Maxon or Aspen
Team Maxon for sure. i think that there's something honest and deep there and not only from a relationship standpoint but the fact that he makes America realize that she's stronger and more capable than she thought and she does the same for him. we don't get the sense of any real growth from Aspen because of his thing with America. and he's just scummy in my opinion for how he let his pride get in the way of things before she left.
Team Maxon all the way. At first I thought that Aspen seemed nice, UNTIL HE BROKE UP WITH AMERICA. Now he wants her back, I'm sorry but he doesn't deserve her. I seriously hate how America is going through a Bella phase. Aspen is stupid. I want him to go away. Maxon is so stupid for making out with other girls even when he decided that he wants America. America is also stupid for not being able to choose. Maxon just asked her to commit a little, and she chickens out. What an unfaithful princess/fiancee he has.
I have to say Maxon. I m going to be really disappointed if it is Aspen. Not because he is not a good guy, and not because her doesn't love her/ she doesn't love him, but kiera kind of set this book up for Maxon and America. I mean for heaven sake, the first thing that happens in the book series is a heartbroken america of aspen, and maxon helps her move on? UM......yea. I know Maxon had done some messed up things but it is kind of America's fault. She pushed him away, she didn't trust him, and she broke his heart. Maxon HAS to choose someone, so there he is broken and looking around thinking " now what?" Of course he got to know someone else! As for Celeste...ok the boy isn't just a romantic prince. He is human, and he was hurt has nobody ever had a rebound? this is not the story of some high school romance, this is marriage and forever with adult emotions. America has no right to really be angry, she had just told him she didn't want him. All that being said, part of the story is America realizing how much she has to offer the world, and how strong she can be. If she marries Aspen, then that is is, she is just an officer's wife. If she marries Maxon , she can become a woman who changes all of these things she is so angry about. After all, Maxon seems to agree with most of her thoughts. If Maxon and Kriss end up together and then Aspen and America end up together, then yes everyone will be happy, and MAxon will be a good king and kriss will be what the country expects, and America will be satisfied. But if America and Maxon end up together, they have the potential to be GREAT, to change things. This next book is going to be tough, Maxon is probably going to find out about aspen, and i am betting he will pull away. I am just hoping I am not disappointed on this! I hope this story ends up being more than the classic YA triangle story, and has an ending with some meaning and inspiration behind it!
I definately agree with your post Jessica I couldn't have said it better myself. I am defiantley TEAM MAXON.
I'm sorta in the middle, cuz I'm still mad at Aspen for cutting it off but Maxon does some bad stuff too.
I'm team Maxon. Jessica your post couldn't have been stated better and there is no doubt you are right, but Maxon shouldn't be doing that stuff with Celeste if he truly loves America, but like you said we're all human. Oh, I also really really really agree with Mimi on her post.

TEAM MAXON!!!I just love Maxon so much, he is 100% the better choice. I think honestly all Aspen and America ever really did was make out in the tree house! I hate Aspen and Kriss so much. Aspen is so annoying and Kriss seemed too cocky. I think the book was built up for America to marry Maxon and fix the country! MAXON IS SO SWEET and ok so what that he kissed Celeste?? Everyone makes mistakes and it would be really stupid to be mad at him since America was doing the same thing with Aspen every other day. And Maxon is the prince! He's allowed to do that in the Selection! I was upset that he did but he thought America and Him were over! i really HATE Aspen

You see, Aspen is a jerk, he did something TERRIBLY wrong is trying to fix it by swarming over America, and NOT givng her any space. He(Aspen), also is breaking the rules and his reason is to get America BACK!! That's just ANNOYING! BAck to Maxon, he gave America space, she just need to trust him, SO TEAM MAXON! ASPEN AND KRISS ARE JERKS!!!!! I HATE THEM soooooooo much! Aspen, Kriss, Celeste, and the king should all die! (No offense to aspen fans)but I really don't see how people can like him he had this thing that he HAD to provide for America and had a huge breakdown when America made him a meal!!! He had his chance and he blew it!!! Now he just sticks around breaking rules he annoys me 24/7 in the book!! Maxon didn't do anything wrong!! Freaking out for the one!!! On kiera cass's website she is posting a quote from the One each month and the quote for May was "I apologize for being out of uniform sir" what the heck does that mean?! Did America and aspen get caught?! Does america not realize hoe much she is risking with aspen if maxon found out that would hurt Him so much! Ughhh aspen is so stupid! When he wrote "Maxon is gone this changes everything" on a note to America I wanted to throw up!! Nobody really likes Aspen, do they? Don't get me wrong: I don't like the annoying ass either. Every time he shows up in the book, I feel like screaming at America, "Why?! Why are you doing this to Maxon?! You love him, you dummy! Now stop doing something illegal and win back your knight in shining armor before its too late!" I mean I love these books. I bought the book on Monday and finished it Tuesday night, crying and laughing all the way. My mother thought I was crazy. Maxon is such a sweetheart and it makes me ache every single time she chooses Aspen over Maxon just because there's some lingering feelings there. Honey, he broke up with you. Get over it and go into Mr. Handsome And I'm A Prince And I Actually Care About You's arms!

TEAM MAXON ALL THE WAY! Aspen is a good guy, but Maxon is better. And Maxon and America need each other! And Aspen risked getting caught with America just because he wanted to kiss her as a guard! And he already left her once, so I wouldn't trust him. I love Maxon!

The "Love" triangle is a laugh! not only does America not see the faults in Aspen (don't get me wrong he is a good guy) but not the guy for America. she states all the faults of maxon and none for the other bozo. I also found that Maxon gets blamed alot in this book( the Elite)
Yes I agree I feel like a lot of YA books that claim to be "love triangles" aren't really that at all... it's always been really obvious to which the girl will pick. Also, I always end up reading these books more so for the guys then because I like the main character. America annoyed me at times like when she kept going back and forth between Maxon and aspen - like obviously she's going to be confused when she keeps seeing both of them at the same time LOL

Lol ya the love triangle isn't balanced! I feel like anyone who likes aspen only likes him because of the Maxon and Celeste thing but America was doing the same exact thing with Aspen every other day! America seems to get away with that though! Maxon is in the selection he is allowed to do it!! I don't want him to but he didn't do anything wrong!
I'm just seriously questioning whether u can love 2 people completely - it's unequal because her relationship is different with both of them obviously . That's why Maxon is better choice because I think she loves him more than she loves aspen now

I don't see Aspen's love at all.
I vote for MAXON. Team Maxon till the end. I mean come to think of it, the novels are names; The Selection, The Elite, The One???? come on, this was all about the selection, about the prince choosing a bride, and since the story is about America's point of view, then without a doubt, she should be with Maxon. Another reason why it will be Maxon, is that Aspen doesn't have much of a role. And I also thought that if the author named the novels pointing out The Selection and The Elite and The One on America's perspective, then it would be her to choose for herself in the end. So I am on Team America's side as well. And if any of you have read The Prince, that is of the Maxon's point of view, how he felt before the Selection, and it showed him quite funny and sarcastic with a mischievous gleam in him, and how his father didn't approve of this. So it showed that Maxon is just like America, except for the fact that he isn't allowed to bahave like that, but if he forgot all the rules and regulations, then without a doubt he would be like America.And come one, we all know that if in the end Maxon chooses a name like Kriss or Celeste, then we will without a doubt, be angry. Not a lot of people are on Aspen's side, all are on Maxon's side, so it would be a heart break if Keira made Maxon choose some one other than America.
Oh and also the fact that America was so angry at Maxon for doing Celeste, and she clearly forgot that she ogled Aspen with every chance she got. So is indeed a hypocrite. But I like her nonetheless.
It's almost like there is no team America, ironically. All these books with the love triangles and the teams seems to end with the girl choosing to follow her heart...her own team. Team Katniss chose Peeta, because that was what her heart was telling her to do. But in this, there is no team America. America's heart is telling her Aspen, then Maxon, oh Maxon did something stupid because I was pushing him away or the king was making him so now I'm into Aspen again. At the end of The Elite, she is vague talking to Aspen and doesn't even break up with him for good. Honestly, I'm questioning whether she really does love Maxon...she hardly seems to show it anymore because of the Marlee thing, the Celeste thing, and the Kriss thing. Is she fighting for Maxon or is she fighting the king for what she believes in or both? Now, she just has to fight while we all choose for her who she's going to end up with because she probably won't be able to choose on her own. PRETTY SAFE BET THAT WE ALL ARE CHOOSING TEAM MAXON FOR HER.
Oh and in case this was misconstrued, I don't hate Aspen. I understand what he's trying to do. I understand he truly, blindly loves America and can't let her go. And Aspen will always be America's first love. He only broke up with her so that he could try to do what he could do to be the best for her. He missed/misses her and wants her. You can't be angry at a boy who is in love with a girl who most likely loves someone else. My god, hasn't everyone either been in that situation someway or knows someone who has? I swear, that's what high school is nowadays. So I love Maxon and don't hate Aspen.

And you wrote that Katniss chose Peeta instead of Gale, well she had never thought of him in that light before, and then suddenly the kiss, made her thoughts fuzzy. And in how many books and movies with love triangles, is it shown that the girl goes back to her first love. Its always the second. And if any of you have read 'The Prince' by Kiera Cass, that shows Maxon's point of view before the Selection, then you would know that he and America are like each other. They think alike, and both are funny.
@lifeofred true I have a general rule with these triangles to always pick the second guy.. Because if you really loved the first one completely you never would've fallen for the second one in the first place. The only exception I can think of is in tigers curse but Kelsey never really loved Kishan she just chose to be with him for a while because she was scared of being with Ren who she really loved. Anyway, all I'm saying is that Maxon is a better choice for America because of all this.

I'm team Maxon for a few reasons: 1) Aspen never really believed in America to begin with. That is, I think if he truly believed in her love and loyalty, her beliefs and approach to life, it never would have mattered that she was a five and he a six. 2)he was too quick to put his needs over hers. Sacrifice for the one you love is key! 3)he tells her repeatedly she would never make a good princess. Really? When you love someone you try to elevate them, not keep them back!
Maxon listens to America-he knows she has a better handle on the caste system (especially the lower levels)and considers her opinion when making his own (remember the pay cuts to the families of the selected to help feed the lower castes?), he allowed his father to whip him after the debacle of the special projects knowing it was really America the king wanted to beat. And mostly, Maxon has faith in America (okay, the trust is understandably broken at the moment), but fundamental faith in who she is and what she can do. Maxon sees that America is great for him and even better for the country. As with everything else, he just needs the time for the everyone else to see the same things!

MAXAMERS~!!!!!!!! <3I've poured my heart out months ago and I'm so tired of rationalizing about certain details and thinking of possible twists and ending but one thing I'm standing by: If Max and Ames won't end up together, the whole series is pointless! They both changed, challenged theirselves outside their comfort zone, had a wonderful time exploring but also got burned with reality and weakened with temptation, to end with Aspen is like telling a story of how it's better to go back to the safe zone after trying and failing because it won't hurt you anymore...but America was named after the country that fought and with that she has her fighting spirit that although bended and almost broken in Elite, she was able to clear her head and realized what she truly wants. Max and Ames were meant to find each other and they had given each other more than what Aspen had in those years he was with Ames. Not the material things, but emotional growth that Max and Ames got from each other... And the fact that they're just so sweet~!! ^^ *sigh* ok I so need to let this go now, this'll be a looooong year....
TRUST matters! BIG TIME! and in my opinion, that is something Maxon had broken a couple of times. America sometimes doubt him(I know she just misunderstands him but still, she finds it hard to actually trust him)... and I don't think that is a good sign... Aspen, on the other hand, had always been someone America could always trust. I mean, she practically runs to him every time things get rough with Maxon. All of you may not agree with me... I also love Maxon, with his prince image and all...i mean, who wouldn't right? but he displayed disloyalty, in a way. He made out with Celeste, he is somehow romantically attached with Kriss... I mean, who would want that right? what girl would want to share the love of her life with some other GIRLS? He has options! he has someone reserved to choose when things with America won't work out.... in my opinion, Aspen is taking a bigger risk than Maxon... he has no plan B and that's plus points for him! :D

Aspen is a good guy. (team Maxon) But he is too pushy. remeember at the end of the elite I felt like America couldn't breath.
Something I caught in "The Elite" was that America had said something along the lines of "Maxon is the one for me" or something like that, which corresponds with the title of the third book "The One." It also seems that by the end of the second book, America becomes determine to win The Selection. (Also, Team Maxon!!)

I'm team Maxon without a doubt. Yes, Aspen is her first love. He is pretty awesome, but I don't think he is right for her. He broke up with her because of his own pride and ego when America needed him. Maxon has been there for America from the beginning in his cute, clumsy, awkward way. Now that he may also be into Kriss does not change my opinion of him. America deserves the best for her and I think that is Maxon.
