I also thought the characters mad some unusual choices, but this didn't bother me too much. What did bother me a bit was the predictability of the victims (even the dog) Oh well, overall not too bad, maybe a 3 star read.

I agree.
I was interested enough to to continue. I also like the setting and I thought the werewolves were ok, but the charcater development was bad at best.

I want to start by stating that I enjoyed the book. It was truly a page turner and I wrapped it up in about 1 sitting.
My complaints are few but worth noting.
1. Karyn was an emotional and physical wreck after the rape. I find it hard to swallow that she was brave enough to walk the path which Oriole suggested, by herself during the early evening hours. This went against logic, when considering the characters state. (Not a major issue, just something that stood out for me).
2. Inez Polk was much too up front with a person she didn't know when offering here theory on werewolves.
3. I found it odd that Karyn and Inez accepted the ease at which the doctor accepted their story of werewolves. Wouldn't a normal person think they were nuts?
4. Why didn't Karyn go with her husband on his short trips to L. A? It would have been less stressful and god knows she was full of stress.
These are just some minor points, I actually understand why the author did these things, but I felt it could have been handled better.
The tension he creates with the odd choices his characters make still works.
I rated the book 3 stars.
