Richie Gilson I had to read this book for my CP English 10 class. At first I thought I thought it was going to be very hard to understand simply because it is a play. In most cases I have trouble separating who said what in plays but this book was different. Mr Stoppard created these characters attitude and actions so perfectly that you can separate them easily. This play ended up being a very easy, and amusing read. I would recommend this play to anyone that would like a good, comical play to read.

Richard there is a great Gary Oldman / Tim Roth filmed version - it's a little "play on film" but to have those two deliver the lines is extremely funny

Rhonda I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I recommended the play for my book club last year. Unfortunately, the members who weren't very familiar with 'Hamlet' were left puzzled.

Brolie Back in high school we did this play (I was Alfred the boy who plays the girl, but I'm a girl so I was a girl playing a boy playing the girls which was loads of fun). It was so much fun to perform. Tom Stoppard is a genius. He also did the screen play for Shakespeare in Love and the new Joe Wright version of Anna Karenina. I highly recommend both. Brilliant writer. Arcadia is another of his plays that's wonderful :)

Paul Did anybody else think this play was overrated? Having read Hamlet, and all of Shakespeare for that matter, I was interested in reading this for obvious reasons. On the cover it said "blazing whit" - "The greatest dialogue", something to that effect. I felt it was a tedious, marginally funny, in no way could it compare to Hamlet in any way. When it is all said and done, who cares about what the characters were doing whilst Hamlet was loosing his mind. Anyway. I appreciate Tom Stoppard, and it was an original idea, with moments of brilliance, but ultimately, I felt it overrated.

Bob Van Arsdale One of my favorite plays, it's included on my GOODREADS' list of Best Books Ever. My initial reading was difficult only because I was laughing so hard at times -- many times -- that it was hard to breathe. The play has stood up well through many re-readings. I only wish that I had the opportunity to perform in it back in the day...

Randee Baty I thoroughly enjoyed reading this play. It was looking at the back side of a tapestry where you can see the threads but they make no sense. The movie with Gary Oldman was really enjoyable also.
