I just remembered while I was doing some clean-up of the bookshelf that An Alpine Idyll was our first genuine Nick Adams story.

The man drinking with John was, in fact, Nick. Surprised I forgot that.

Arthur | 21 comments That's interesting. That would've made this story more suggestive and supportive knowing that. wiki lists Alpine Idyll under the Company of Two. Was he ever in the company of John in any other story? I'll have to read these some day.

Some folks think Alpine Idyll is a continuation of Cross Country Snow but for whatever reasons the main characters names are changed.
