Hello! Welcome to the College Students group where college students (and those in their 20's) gather to talk about books, college, life, & anything random you can imagine. We love new members so we'd love for you to jump right in! We are a fun, book loving, awesome group of people with such diverse backgrounds and personalities. This is definitely not a book group that discriminates or is disrespectful to each others opinions. It is a place for all college students/20 some-things to come and talk about good books & other things!

Don't know where to start?

There is always the Introductions thread to introduce yourself to us or the A to Z quiz to tell us about yourself so that you can jump right in!

Want to read a book with the group? We have our monthly group reads. The information regarding this is found here You can always find out what we are reading by looking at the top of the group page and see what is on our bookshelf or there is a thread letting you know.

We also have a variety of threads dedicated to our favorite books, to your latest book splurge, or even to things we want to rant about! There is always something for everyone.

So jump right in..don't be shy! Feel free to ask any question. We are super friendly and promise that you will be addicted like we are! :)

message 21: by Arianna (new)

Arianna (theycallmena) Good to meet you all! I'm Arianna, and I'm trying to revive the passion for reading I had when I was a little girl. I read a lot about sexuality- fiction and non fiction, but I would be interested in reading about Chinese culture, women's issues, maybe some modern poetry, and anything that is well-written and will make me think.

I represent Ohio!

College courses? I am enrolled in education classes & SLP210 which covers the anatomy of speech relevant of course to speech disorders. I attend my local Maricopa County Community College and am in my first ever online course.

Teresa

I love to read (obviously!) and I try to read a variety of things, although my main love is fiction. Pleasure to meet you all!

Asri Hi! I'm Asri. I'm not an English major. Pre-med, so I'm not sure how well this will go once school starts again. I read Everything Is Illuminated a few months ago and wanted so badly to be in a book club to discuss it.

message 36: by Rayna (new)

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 59 comments Hi everyone!
I've been following this group for a little while now, but am just getting around to introducing myself.

This summer I'm nervously anticipating my final year of college while reading almost any book I can get my hands on.

This group seems like a lot of fun and there appear to be a lot of really interesting discussions going on.

I'm excited and can't wait to keep exploring.

message 37: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samhanson) | 179 comments Hello! I'm new to Goodreads and this is my first group. My name is Samantha and I'm a sophomore printmaking major. I don't have to read much for school so hopefully I'll be able to participate in some group reads.

message 39: by Becky (new)

Becky (glover) Hello! I have been reading the comments in this group for a while and I think it is time for me to say hi finally :)

I will be going back to school this September in Boston. Boy, why does school seem like SUCH a long time ago?! I graduated only last year.

message 40: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Welcome Becky! I feel the same way! I graduated college in December of 2008 and I feel like it was an eternity!

What will you be going to school for?

message 41: by Becky (new)

Becky (glover) For law. I hope I will still have time for leisure reading.

message 42: by Emmie (new)

Emmie (emmie_m) Hello everyone! I'm Emmie and an English major. I just finished my first semester of college and I was only able to read two pleasure books the entire semester! I thought I was going to die. So this summer I'm catching up. Hopefully this group can assist with that. :)

message 43: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Welcome Emmie! Isn't it horrible when you can't read hardly any pleasure books during the school year?!

message 44: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Welcome to the group Hali, Rayna, Samantha, Becky and Emmie!

Hali-Religion? That's pretty cool, what made you choose that?

Rayna- Your final year? How exciting! What is your degree?

Samantha- I know what you mean about not being able to read during the school year, it's terrible!

Becky- Law? What made you choose that degree?

Emmie- Another English Major! What were the two books you were able to read?

message 45: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bex_rodriguez) Hello! My name is Rebecca, and I've just begun to dive into Goodreads because I'm done with school for the semester. I'm an English major, too, but I really like a lot of different areas of study. So I like a lot of different types of books too :)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Welcome to the group Rebecca!

message 48: by Becky (new)

Becky (glover) Kimberly-- I chose law school mainly because of an independent study I did in college and a legal internship I got in the end. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

message 49: by Emmie (new)

Emmie (emmie_m) Kimberly: The Book Thief and My Cousin Rachel-Both were fabulous.

message 50: by Rayna (new)

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 59 comments Kimberly: Yep, my last year. I'm excited, but also terrified. I'm a comparative literature and linguistics and language double major. With the comp lit, I get to read a lot, which is nice, but it doesn't usually give me a lot of time to read other books for fun.
