If I can assume that we'll read the series, of which this is Book I, then I'll buy the 3-version 3-pack. If we'll likely just read this one, I'll buy the paperback. Of course, we probably don't know what we'll be reading, but in the case that someone knows, it will help my wallet to know in advance :). Thanks in advance, Michael Emerald.

I think we are reading just the first book in the series for the group read, Michael. But maybe wait for Nell's reply, as she actually knows what's happening rather than guessing. :)

There's really no telling whether we'll read just this one or all three - it depends mostly on how much interest it generates. Why not take a peek inside the book before you decide? You may like it enough to buy all three whether or not we continue with the series within the group.
