Rebecca (rwallace) | 15 comments So I just started reading "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," and I'm completely involved in this wonderful underwater world. I feel sort of silly when I begin reading a classic that I should have gotten to years ago, and it's only now that I announce to everyone, "Hey, that Jules Verne sure can write." I did the same thing a few years ago with "Middlemarch." (Not a bad way with words there, either.)

Is anyone just now reading a classic that's been calling your name for years?

Rebecca Forster (rebeccaforster) | 27 comments Not reading right now but my favorite is The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. Considered the first legal thriller ever. I've read it 3 times.

I just read War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells.

You tease. What is it?

Rebecca (rwallace) | 15 comments I meant "War of the Worlds," but I can come up with another one. :) How about "The Time Machine"?

Oh. That's good, too. There's a Netflix series called "Prophets of Science Fiction" and one episode features H.G. Wells. Give it a look-see. As usual, he was way too far ahead of his time and a hard sell for publishers.

Rebecca (rwallace) | 15 comments Sounds good. Will look into it when I come up for air (hilarious underwater Jules Verne joke).

Not if you're a former scuba diver who had a near death experience like me. Watch out for the blow hole on Oahu.
