Quilt, Read, Eat, Sleep.... What Else Is There? discussion

So I have been on summer break for a few weeks now and have been quilting up a storm. I have also discovered several quilting blogs...Do you have any favorite quilting blogs?

What kind of quilting are you interested in?

I kind of like a little bit of everything--primitive, wool felt, trendy stuff, etc. The little shop we have in my town does not even have a block of the month and most of the quilters are not up on any of the trends. When I moved here 8 years ago, they had never even heard of wool felt!

I am learning to use my mom's long arm and it is much more challenging than I ever imagined. I will check out you blog and the others you recommended. Thanks!

Oohh I've recently become enamored with wool felt!! I haven't done much with it yet, but I've started to accumulate a stash for when I have some free time. And since I live in a 220 year old house, it'll go perfectly whenever I happen upon that free time :)

I posted a picture a while back under the photos for this group it is my Wool Flowers quilt. It took me over 8 years to finish it. You need yo check out the blog quilts by Cheri. She is an amazing primitive quilt designer who I used to take classes with when I lived in San Diego. Also cloft.com which is my favorite primitive and wool felt shop in the world. I still order lots of stuff from them. I also am in love with embroidering with pearl cotton and using it in quilts.

Enjoyed looking at your blog. I too have become a convert to the Clover Wonder Clips. I won some during a shop hop and used a coupon to get some more. So pleasant to finish a binding and not get poked with pins! I'm curious about the new cutter you mentioned. Does it have a different kind of blade or mechanism that makes it cut better than the usual Olfa cutters?

It is much lighter weight. It does not have the bolt and nut, instead it has a quick release mechanism for changing the blade, and it has more of an ergonomic shape. I almost bought another one today!

Thanks for the info. I've cut with my old one for so many years I'm kind of attached to it. A better ergonomic shape might be nice however.

I love red pepper quilts; film in the fridge; happy zombie; in color order; freshly pieced; blue mountain daisy; and oh fransson. also, craftster is an open site where craftsters of all kinds post images of their creations, tutorials, challenges and swaps. It is fantastic for inspiration and instruction.

Started my own blog and posted several articles I wrote some time ago - one on an organization system and projects for using up scraps, plus a few projects and book reviews. Love yr blog, Craftnut. Some gorgeous projects on there. And I loved the sewing machine history! I started out using a Singer treadle machine, which had belonged to my grandmother. Once you got into a rhythm with it, it was brilliant.

Put up a full tutorial on borders this weekend. It has gone crazy with over 400 views in just two days. I am just amazed at that!

I get so much inspiration from quilting blogs and it is amazing how many of us are out there!

Will have a look later. Forgot to say, I liked your idea of quilting with a darker thread - it looks very effective.

Generally I like the darker color too, but it overpowered the toile.
