Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) | 0 comments So, I have been hearing a lot about authors attacking reviewers, because of low ratings, and Bad reviews.. My question is, have you ever been attacked by an author? If so what did you do about it?

the first time i responded to it and it just made it worse so since then i either report the review or send a link to the librarians and leave it up to their discression. if i see a cruel review on another authors book i usually do the same

I believe I commented on the wrong thing, lol. I was reading another thread and my mobile app for it posted it on the wrong thread. I have yet to have an author get mad at me for a review. If I didn't like the book and I told them, as far as I know they have been very courteous and thankful for the honest opinion. I have seen several instances where the author did get angry on someone's review but I don't condone that. I try to avoid responding to reviews unless a person sends it to me in an email. I think it is the reader's opinion and they are allowed to have it.

J.M. Stewart (authorjmstewart) I make sure to click the "like" button beneath every review that goes up on my books. Because I'm grateful for every one. I don't think it's right to attack someone for their opinion. Though I have seen reviewers attack the authors in their reviews, but I still think it's best to let it go.

I'm gonna go all zen on everyone, lol, but I just feel like everyone in the reviewing and writing world could chill a little. Not everyone is going to like every book they read. I personally don't get mad if I get a bad review because I don't expect everyone to like my book. Hell I'd be happy if only one person liked it because it means I made someone's good book list. I also am not going to write a good review of every book I've read because I don't like every book. But that's my opinion.
If everyone had the same opinion and liked the exact same thing, this world would be a sad place that ran out of vanilla ice cream a lot.

Maybe I'm just a laid back person but I have this thing where I never take anything personal even if it's directed right at me. I'm just the "well that's your opinion. Thank you" type of person. I'm grateful even for the bad reviews because it means someone took the time to read my book and evaluate what they thought of it. The only ones I'm not appreciative of are the ones that aren't about my book. It bugs me a little but I just try to brush it off and keep going. If everyone listened to every bad thing said to them about them, then no one would ever leave their house or go on the internet again.

I never attack a reviewer. However I do not agree with using reviews to attack and degrade people, whether it's a reader or author. I've commented on one review that called the author a Whore, attacking the author personally. There wasn't an actual book review. The poster, because I do not consider them a reviewer, used the opportunity to create what I call "hate and harassment shelves" to attack the author's Character. I commented that I felt that was not a review and was inappropriate. However some one commenting and giving their reading experience, bad, good or whatever, is not a problem. I think any hostile comment directed at someone for malicious reasons is wrong.

Rex White | 1 comments I haven't had a problem with reviews. People seem to enjoy the books that I put out. But where I run into problems is with the rating system. I'm not even sure what they are supposed to be rating. Are they supposed to be rating the book, or putting a rating on whether or not they think they would like it? On one of the books, with which I was involved, was rated a one star. This was before it was available to read. There cannot be one rating system for multiple things. I looked up one of the people and they have rated a plethora of ones. I know that, for large publishing houses and famous authors, this is no big deal, but when you are a little guy with only a few rating and reviews, it makes quite a dent. People are looking at the stars as a measure of what they think other people thought of the book. If it is not being used that way, then I am hard pressed to understand the point of the rating system.
