What did Claire decide to do?

I loved the book, the writing, especially, but when it ended I got that OH NO feeling as the reader said the final words. What do you think Claire decided to do? Did she mean she would be saying her farewells to her lover, or to her husband? Maybe I missed something. Let me know what you got out of it.

I think Claire went home to say goodbye to her old life and hello to a new life.
I agree with Edith - if I had to guess I would say Claire was ready to put her old unhappy life behind her and move on. At least I'd like to think so!
I think Claire was saying good bye to her old life, all of it--husband, lover, friends, neighborhood. All except her child.
I thought she was getting the house ready to say good bye to Birdie. That and saying goodbye to the past
I thought it meant that she was going to try again with her husband but to speak up more about her own mind.
