Sarah Oxford (sarahloxford) | 110 comments I'd never heard of that but it sounds good, do you like it?

In the spirit of continuing a 'currently reading' thread, I'm reading these 3 at the moment...
Violet Midnight (Violet Night, #1) by Lynn Rush
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
(The last two are more of a work in progress as Outlander is huge and I have it on audio on my commute and Anna Karenina I'm just dipping into now and again)

message 2: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 171 comments I need to read Violet Midnight. How is it?
And I hear good things about Outlander.

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Oxford (sarahloxford) | 110 comments I've been meaning to read Outlander for awhile as I understand it's meant to be fantastic! It's slow at the moment but I'm still only on chapter 2.

Violet midnight isn't really doing anything for me, I'm finding it too fast and jumpy in the prose and I'm not connecting to the characters. May just be me though as it's reviewed well amongst my GR friends. The plot is intriguing too.

message 4: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Oxford (sarahloxford) | 110 comments I have Outlander on in the car on audiobook.
I read Anna Karenina when I'm around my husband as I'm trying to prove to him I can read 'real' books too!!!
And I'm just reading violet midnight, normally in my lunch break at work on the kindle.

Strictly speaking I'm reading 4 because I go to sleep to harry potter audiobook each night, but as it's like my 5th time I don't bother counting that one!

Kathryn Parry (kathrynmorgan-parry) | 21 comments Kelli wrote: "how do you read more than one book at once?"

I don't think anyone does, they just piled up to get to read next but if you like me the pile never gets smaller...

message 6: by Cristine (new)

Cristine Jacob I'm curently reading Gone by Michael Grant

Aww I see. I like the sound of it because it's paranormal NA, and any New Adult novel that is something other than contemporary romance is right up my alley. Of course, I love some of the contemporary stuff, I just don't read a lot of it. And I can't wait for New Adult to expand even more beyond it. :)

I am currently reading Molly Harper's "A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses". I love her.

message 8: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn Parry (kathrynmorgan-parry) | 21 comments Is It Just Me? I am just starting to read this....the first chapter was very funny.

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Oxford (sarahloxford) | 110 comments @Brianna - I haven't read Molly Harper, does she write pnr? And is it 'mature' or 'clean'?

@Kathryn - I have that book so I'd like to know how you find it. Miranda is hilarious but I rarely read biography/autobiography.

message 10: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 171 comments Yes she does, Sarah. It's very funny, and there is sex, but I wouldn't call it steamy, really. If you want to try her, I recommend her Jane Jameson series, starting with Nice Girls Don't have Fangs. All the books I've read from her I've liked, though. They always make me laugh. :)

message 26: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 171 comments I love Hopeless. Happy you're reading it. :)

message 27: by Jenn (new)

Jenn Sternshein (bookdorkjenn) I'm almost done with Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers, #1) by J.A. Redmerski (amazing book)... I'm like 35% into Sunshine (Sunshine, #1) by Nikki Rae for a review (i'm loving it so far, so fun to read) and i just started Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth ... I'm also listening to Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins .. I know that's a lot of books at once but i love switching around depending on what i'm doing. Some books i can mutitask while i'm reading and some i need to just lay in bed and concentrate on. Plus it's kind of fun to listen to a book while washing the dishes. :)

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Oxford (sarahloxford) | 110 comments I'm a multi-reader too Jenn!

I'm currently reading;
Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris (after waiting 6 weeks for the library to get me a copy)
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon on audiobook in the car during my commute
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy slowly when Ihave the energy as it's on my list of books I think I ought to read
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling also on audiobook at bed time to help me get to sleep
and about to start Finding Pride (The Pride #1) by Jill Sanders for a read it for review.

Which one I pick up to read depends like you say on what I'm doing and what frame of mind I'm in. Some books I could read at the park with screaming kids running around me. Others I'd need privacy for, either to concentrate or laugh or cry without getting odd looks!

message 29: by Jenn (new)
