epilogues- do u like them?

I know I had mixed feelings about the epilogue after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Yes! I like seeing what happens in the future or simple what happens next. I like epilogues most of the time. Other times epilogues spoil the future for you. Sometimes you want your imagination to guess what will happen next and you don't like the epilogue that the author gives you. It depends on the book.

IKR!! Sometimes, IK it's lame, but In order not to have nightmares at nigh I have to think about what I want to dream about b 4 going 2 bed. I always dream about what could have happened, and when authors tie up all lose ends you have nothing to think about. :(

Sometimes I think that epilogues are a way of saying good bye to the characters as they have an air of finality about them and I like most as like the Harry Potter one it gave way to a whole other set of ideas and scenarios, though some books could without them

I get what you mean, but after the HP epilogue I felt that J.K. Rowling was going to start a new series, kind of like the Out with the old, In with the new idea or Not the end...just the beginning.

I love epilogues, they tie up the book and make you feel content. I liked Mockingjay's epilogue, because I love seeing how the characters were living years from the end of the story,

It was a resounding YES for Mockingjay epilogue from me. I don't think I could live without it.

Yes! I like them because sometimes it answers the lose ends and sometimes can give you hints/ sneak peeks into the next book. I epilogue for Clockwork Princess though is an epilogue that I have mixed feelings about (If you read it then you know what I mean).

Mockingjay's epilogue almost made me punch myself in the face, it was too predictable and I hated it.
And the Clockwork Princess one was cute, but I don't really know how I feel about it also

Of Course! I LOVE epilogues! They mostly make the end of a book even more personal for me! :D

Clockwork Princess had an adorable and sad epilogue. I loved it!

I love epilogues especially for dystopian books like THG! I'm hoping there'll be an epilogue in Allegiant!

Yeah. I think books should have epilogues. mainly the last book of a great series in which people would want to know about their life after the story. Like HP, I liked that. Same goes with the HG.

Yes. I hated Requiem. It was so bad and boring so I just skimmed the whole thing. That ending was horrible.

Yes the epilogue should have answered the BIG question which should have been answered.

I feel like depending on the kind of series/ novel it is sometimes you need the epilogue to tie up some loose ends! I have read some epilogues in books that I thought were not good as well though, some have left more questions then answers, so I guess dependent on the novel it depends on whether I like an epilogue or not :)

It depends on the book for me. Some series need them. The Clique was better with an epilouge, and so was HP (loved that epilouge).

I think that epilogues can be a good thing and sometimes a bad thing. Sometimes the ending is so good that it's better to let your mind wonder and imagine what happens next. Other times (if written well) it is great to read the epilogue and find out what happens. The best is when the epilogue tells you what happens next but still leaves the future open for you to interpret (like Clockwork Princess).

I agree I think HP needed one :)

Sometimes epilogues can ruin the entire book but other times they make the book awful! I'm not sure how to judge when a book needs an epilogue, but I know when it didn't need one! ;)

personally, some Epilogues are good, I like them alot most of the time. If I remember correctly HP was the only one I didn't like....

Some books need epilogues. Some not all. Harry Potter needed one I think, but it introduced more characters, gave everyone hope for another book, and well, that didn't happen. Short, simple, sweet. Enough to give us a glimpse into the main character's future to see that they truly are happy, despite every awful thing from their past. Enough to let us do all the wondering and interpeting.

Epilogues are realy nessasary because they tell us if they lived happily ever after or the ending a book really needs.

The One epilogue that I love and cherish and still tear up about: CLOCKWORK PRINCESS. That epilogue encompassed so many emotions. That epilogue made the reader FEEL. *Sigh*

Yes, it all depends on the book and the ending. Like Forever...probably could've used an epilogue.

Yes, I believe all novels should have an epilogue, especially if it's the final book in a series. I really love to know what happens to the characters after the story.

It depends. If the book has a good enough conclusion without it, than it doesn't need one. I like epilogues though, if the book/series I was reading was really good.

Totally depends on the book....I usually don't like them in series, but in single books, it's all right!

I'll tell you one book that was in dire need of an epilogue: Requiem by Lauren Oliver. So many loose ends that could've been tied with a good epilogue in that one.

It really did, the book would have been perfect if it had had one, in my opinion.

I loved the epilogues for Harry Potter 7 and Allegiant but I didn't like the epilogue for Mockingjay... so I guess it depends?

Oh hecks ya!! Epilogues have all kinds of Saucy details that might not have been in the story or could be exposition for future books. They could tell what happens in later years to ease worrying minds, like my own, and could put a perfect ending on a beautiful story.

I don't really like epilogues I don't know why but it just makes me feel like the story is over nothing else happened everything is all just peachy now and bye bye then. Or when I read Mockingjay's epilogue I just got really depressed. Actually even more depressed than I already was, the book is seriously morbid and I'm not sure what it is but everything just feels hopeless.

Sometimes it's great to know the character's future, but only if it is written well and if it somehow relates to their past. Some epilogues though shouldn't be written. They can be so unimportant

I love epilogues! We get a glimpse of the future and I get closure and immense happiness :)

I love epilogues for the most part. The one for Unearthly was perfect <3

Sometimes though I think it's best to let the readers imagine what happens next.
