Max (maxv) | 4 comments I'm looking for a pretty specific type of dystopian/ post-apocalyptic/alt world/-esque novel where the focus is on how a woman/girl might survive in a society where she is basically reduced to sexual commodity/chattel due to reasons such as women becoming rare, a militaristic rule that favors men, etc. The biggest example is of course, A Handmaid's Tale. Then there's the movie 28 Days Later. Also, a non-fiction example is movie/autobiography A Woman in Berlin, where a German woman had to survive by trading herself sexually with the commander of the Soviet army after the fall of Berlin in WWII (my life was not the same after reading this).
Hopefully, I'm looking for recommendations for stories where a tough/strong (as opposed to TSTL damsels in distress) heroine/s survive such a world. Gritty, morally-ambiguous, sexually or otherwise explicit recommendations are totally fine (and preferred). Romance is also a plus (but good romance, not Harlequin yuckiness).
Thanks in advance!
