Surveying my surroundings, I found myself behind black, intersecting metal bars of a large dog crate. The ordinary sliding lock had been replaced with a bulky, bulletproof one requiring a key or passcode.
"A dog crate. Ironic." I muttered in annoyance.
The room was tiny gloomy with only light seeping through the cracks around the steel door. No light shown through the small window above our heads. It was night.
I looked to my left to find big, crystal blue eyes filled with worry and fear locked on me. Amanda was in the crate next to me. He blonde hair had been tainted with dirt and dry blood. Her hand placed on the bars closest to me shook.
She spoke in a shaky whisper, obviously scared out of her wits. "Sky, they know. They know about us. They are gonna hurt us! They know what we did. Skylar what do we do!"
"Amanda! Calm down!" I whispered back. "Ok so they know.... That doesn't mean we are at a total loss..."
"Sky, they have us locked up like puppies!" Amanda squeaked as she gave me a terrified look.
I closed my eyes trying to think. This wasnt the first time we had awoke in a locked cage. "Ok I have a plan.... Amanda are you ready...?" I say crouching on my toes in a fight position. I clenched one fist and gritted my teeth.
"No! They have guns! We could get killed!" When I smirked at her comment, she sighed. "There is no stopping you when you have a plan."
Grinning, I spoke, "If they are going to treat us like puppies, we are gonna show them we are full wolf..."
Without hesitation, I let the monster take over. My spine shaped and fur spread over my back. My ears elongated, picking up sounds of everything from around the room and outside. My canine teeth shot out as I shook my shaggy head, letting out a fierce howl.
Tightening my muscles, I rammed my skull into the crate door. The lock bursted into pieces. My claws skidded across the slick gray floor outside my cage. The metal door that lead out of the tiny room was only a few feet in front of me. I heard the people outside Scrambling toward the room after hearing my wolfish outburst, screaming something about the mutt getting out. At that moment I knew that was going to be one heck of a fight.

"Oh, she'd better not be dead!" Abby was starting to panic. I seriously couldn't blame her; Leah was in a separate cage from the rest of us, so there must be something about her that they noticed. She had taken the longest to capture, too.
"Guys?"
"What?" Meghan looked at me in a manner suggesting I was now the leader. Oh, boy...
"Why do you think they singled out Leah? Do you think it was the..." Abby and Meghan both nodded, understanding what I meant.
They had found out Leah's secret.
"The question now is... Why do they still have us here?" I looked at the sterile, metal cage surrounding us and the lab beyond it. "What do they want from us?"

Aww! Thanks for sparing my feelings! Yours was WAY better!!!!!!!! :)

“Grace! Grace! Wake up you lazy girl!” I loudly whisper. Now I’m fully alert, and I realize what a bad situation were in. Shouting to the rest of my two friends, I observe what else is going on inside the room were trapped in. There is a man in a white lab coat. He is probably in his early 40s and has a huge nose. He is speaking with another woman who has long blonde hair, and is so beautiful she could be a model. Jealousy strikes me and I think of what I must look like. My dirty blonde hair is crusted with dirt and my hand-me-down jeans are ripped. My friends don’t appear much better.
The scientists, or at least that’s what they look like, keep glancing at us. I stare right at them both for a couple seconds until they notice me. When they finally train their eyes on mine, I give them a look of pure hatred. What kind of person ties kids up in dog crates? After a while though, I return to my friends.
“Ouch.” Bailey moans. She looks at me and I give her a weak smile. Looking confused, she also takes in our surroundings. Grace is now fully awake and whispers to me,
“It’s like from Maximum Ride! Check, do you have wings?” Reaching back, I feel for feathers. And just when I thought today couldn’t get any weirder.
Yay! :) first contest on here so... don't know how it will go...

Well, I like it! :)

Clanging. I wake up to the sound of metal bars clanging and crashing, making a dreadful noise that hurts my ears and pulls me out of the darkness I have been enveloped in. My eyes slowly open and adjusts to the dimness of the room. Bars dig painfully into my back and I wince as I sit up. My head bumps a low ceiling, which doesn't really help my migraine.
"Violet. Violet!" A harsh whisper snaps my attention to the other side of the room. It is Tyler and he looks so terrified that I would have laughed at him had we not been in dire circumstances.
"Where are we?" My throat is raw and speaking at a volume above a whisper is impossible.
"Cages, it looks like. And we're in some sort of cave." Molly says from my other side. Her voice is subdued and I can see her hunched back and deflated look. She is clutching the bars of the cage that make up the floor, knuckles white.
"Do you remember what happened, Violet?" Molly's eyes are resigned and I realize with a start that she has already accepted her fate.
I start to shake my head but slowly, my memory comes back in the form of random snapshots. A dark alley. Smoking. Laughter. Then that horrible howl that pierced the night. Screams and a sudden chill in the air. That was the last thing I remember.
"Where's Auggie?" He had been with us when we were captured but I can see no sign of him in this damned cave.
Tyler averts his eyes. His voice is hollow and breaks as he speaks. "He took him. He took Auggie. Christ, he took Auggie."
"Who's him?" The fear settles in my stomach. The fear that we may never get out of here. The fear that our fate will be similar to that of Auggie's.
"I don't-" Molly begins but her words are cut off by a scream. It is Tyler and he seems to be fighting some invisible force. He is screaming for his life and Molly and I are screaming for ours. I'm scared. I'm so scared that this thing will target me next and I am sobbing before I even know that I am. My entire body is shaking, racked with sobs as I helplessly watch Tyler being devoured, his flesh melting, his eyeballs gouging out. His screams ends in a choke and a small rattle is heard. I look up and immediately look away. What is left of Tyler is a small pile of bones.
I pass out.
When I come around there is a metallic taste in my mouth. I call out for Molly but she is unresponsive. She sits, her back rigid and her face covered by her hair. She is shaking, blood on her knuckles. I say her name over and over but I realize that I am only wasting my breath. I stop and close my eyes, willing myself to die before he comes.
Time passes and I am fervently hoping that he does not come. But it is futile. All hopes and wishes are futile for a sudden temperature drop alerts me of his presence.
He is close and he smells of death, of rotting flesh and decay. These are my final seconds and I am determined to end it bravely. This monster took away my friends. He took away my life. But I will not let him take my dignity.
So I open my eyes and force myself not to scream as his claws reach out for me. As his dark red eyes leer ominously over me. As his mouth opens and his fangs engulf my face. The pain is there, a white hot flame that burns at fiber of my being; snatching away my breath. I am not dead. I am not dead. I am not dead.
But the pain is unbearable and I break my earlier promise. I start to scream.

Well, you're right that "sweet" wouldn't be the word for that, but I'm known (not really known... Known to myself, I guess.) for being short with my writings, so it's just the norm. :)
