Friends

Let's gather nominations to start a poll for our September read. A maximum of 1 nomination per member.

We will offer book suggestions on the 1st of the month, vote for our choices thru the 9th, and I will post the winning titles on the 11th. This should give everyone a chance to locate a copy of all the great books we read together.

Kara (karaayako) I was JUST READING about Orlando today! This piece about Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West came up in my twitter feed: http://www.brainpickings.org/index.ph...

I came into this thread to nominate it and was so pleased that it was already nominated and seconded.

Rowena | 46 comments I adore Orlando and I was actually thinking of re-reading it in September as it`s my birthday month:)

So my nominations are:
1. Orlando- Virginia Woolf
2. The Female Eunuch- Germaine Greer
3. Misogyny: The World's Oldest Prejudice - Jack Holland

message 9: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Cárdenas (elizabetj) | 13 comments I know I'll sound lazy but all of the above would have been on my list. After my trip I will do more research & add my nominations for October.

message 10: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Perkins Germaine Greer's 'The Female Eunuch' has my vote. I've only skimmed through it; an opportunity to read it in-depth and discuss it would be great. :)

Kathryn Long I'd like to toss GOODBYE EMILY by Michael Murphy into the hat. It's such an emotionally impacting read. I can't imagine anyone who experiences it to come away without becoming unchanged or unaffected.

Kara (karaayako) How about some feminist dystopian fiction? The Gate to Women's Country by Sheri S. Tepper

The book is not without its controversy, but I'm intrigued and would love to read it with others.
