K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments There are some funny examples going around of making new, and totally different, titles by removing a single letter from the original book title (#bookswithalettermissing, I believe, is one source).

For example, 'The Princess Bride' becomes 'The Princess Brie' and 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius' becomes a cookbook with 'A Heartbreaking Wok of Staggering Genius'.

So, my question is: can you change the meaning of one of your own titles by removing a single letter and make it mean something different?

I'll start: from my own works,
'Crypt of Souls' becomes either 'Crypt of Soul' (the leftovers from a 1970s music fad) or 'Cryp of Souls' (a former gang member leads a zombie squad).

How about yours?

Jay Howard (jay_howard) How about Never Too Late becomes Never Too Lat?
(LAT is apparently an internet slang acronym - living apart together)

Actually, there are a few possiblities there:
Ever Too Late
Never to Late
Never too Ate

'Cornerstone: Raising Rook' becomes
'Cornerstone: Raising Roo', a retrospective by Winnie-the-Pooh's Kanga...

Robert Spake (ManofYesterday) | 7 comments It's not removing a letter, but I can put a space in Fraudulent to make Frau Dulent, which makes it about a German woman.

Angelic Hellfire could become Angelic Hell Fir, a very nasty tree.

I,Tomorrow? and Other Stories could becomes I, Tomorrow? and Other Tories, giving it a political theme.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Stop it, Kathy, you'll have me writing another short story in my head and there's too much going on in it already.
(you're right, though - awesome! Sort of Mrs Danvers character I reckon)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Can we play a double game? Remove one or change one? Then we could have Wind in the Pillows.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments I was thinking we could also add one...for example, 'late' could become 'latte'...'Never too Latte'...

So it's an add one/change one/subtract one thing - but only ONE!

'Wind in the Pillows' sounds like something my dog does when she's sleeping on my bed...

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments Thus 'Stolen' would become 'Stollen', a fantasy about good bread...

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Here's another dog one, then - Patch 22

Sean Campbell | 26 comments "Saving Mouse" - A story about a dominant man that rescues an abused young woman.

Becomes by loosing a letter - "Saving Muse" - A story about trying to get the urge to write back.

Or by changing a letter - "Saving Moose" - The story of how veronica rescued Moose in the Archie comics.

Or by adding a letter - "Salving Mouse" - A story about a vet at a rodent breading farm.

This is so sad but funny.

David Kummer | 40 comments Harry Potter ---> Hairy Potter, a boy with a problem as he grows too much hair. Harry Otter, the story of a brave otter who defeated Yo-Now-Who. Hairy Potters, a family of hairy potters.

From my own works:

She ---> He: A Horror Novel
As Trees Turned Away ---> A Tree Turned Away
My Abigail ----> Y Abigail?
My Other Friends & Collected Scary Stories ---> My Otter Friends
Enden ----> End'n

Just like this post. Ending.
