Julie Raust | 1 comments Ok I know this may not belong here, but I just needed to say thanks to this group. (Mods feel free to move this if you like)

Here's my story...

I have always remembered the first book that began my love of everything romance. I kept it tucked away in the back of my drawer and read it over and over again. Somehow, in one of my many moves, it was deemed as trash and thrown away. That was almost 15 years ago.

When I became a Goodreads member I began a halfhearted search for that first romance novel. I knew it was unlikely that I would find it since - I couldn't remember the title, the author, or the character names. All I remembered were some sketchy details of the plot.

I posted in other groups for help, with no luck. I had resigned myself to never finding that sentimental treasure.

Last weekend I stumbled upon this group, loved the concept and joined instantly. As I was scrolling down the book shelves section, I couldn't believe my eyes when... I found IT! THE BOOK! The one that I had been searching for.

Turns out the book is...

Bitterleaf by Candace Camp

I can't tell you how thrilling this find was for me. Without your group I'd still be wondering if I would ever find this book that now holds so much sentimental value for me.

I will be ordering my used copy on Amazon soon and look forward to reading this long lost story again.

Thanks to Bodice Rippers for your help! I'm a member for life! lol.

Julie :)

AWw, Julie--I'm so freakin' glad you located that sucker! There are so many of us have been in your shoes--and went on net-wide missions to relocate our long lost treasure--and eventually, sometimes, we do find them again. :*) You're VERY welcome! Most of my finds have been through this site/group, or friends I met here, redirecting me to good sources. :D

There is nothing like finding that ol' friend you read many years ago. Enjoy Julie:)

Ruth Clements I'm trying to find a book I read years and years ago (~1991 or earlier) and I'm not sure if Danielle Steel is the author, but I think she is. I think the main character was a wealthy disturbed woman named Sloan(e?) who lived in a big city (NYC?) and was addicted to anonymous sex...she'd lock eyes with a stranger and he'd follow her to some secluded spot and they'd have a quickie (can't believe I read this when I was a young teen but that's what comes of volunteering at the local library!). Anyway - this is where I might be mixing two books - but as I recall she ends up in Mexico or South America and pulls this routine with a matador. They end up having a sordid affair and he becomes physically abusive. Eventually she escapes back to America to...her husband? and maybe she's famous because I think there are paparazzi at the airport when she returns. Anyone??
