Fall of Giants discussion

I want to start this topic saying that I am aware that this is a really stupid thing to complain about. I just can't help it. Seriously, why is everyone in this damn book so handsome? Where's the ugly people? Isn't everyone supposed to have really bad teeth or something?
Am I the only one who is a bit annoyed by that?

My complain is that there are no French characters, I think they would enrich this story with their perspective of history.

Look at old timey photos, everyone was so put together and lovely. A shave, a nice suit, combed and trimmed hair and even the less attractive people looked like movie stars :)! Or maybe Follett - looking forward to movie rights - had actors in mind when writing this.

I have to agree with this. I am positive that while writing he had actors in mind.

Follett rarely puts physically ugly characters in any of his books....morally ugly, well, his books are rife with them. I've read all of his books except the 2nd in the latest trilogy & can only recall a small handful of physically ugly people. Even those were given some alluring characteristic that attracted the villain to them.

The way he had all the characters meet all the time made me think he might want it to be a tv-series. I think it would be a great series. If they can afford all the different locations.

I agree ..they are all beautiful and stunning characters apart from Rosa..is it romantically unacceptable to be anything less?

There are some non beautiful men it seems. Like bernie and gus.

Walter and Fitz are handsome Lev is charming, gregory was handsome but broke his tooth and Gus and Bernie appear to be homely and not so handsome. So there you have it!

Milred is not that good looking apperently.
