Hi, guys! It's time to start nominating books for the August 2103 group read! I do have a few guidelines, though...

Since we don't have many members, I am not going to restrict you to only nominating one book. However, I would like for everyone to nominate three books at the maximum.

If you are only nominating one book (which is fine) then it cannot be your own. If you are nominating two or three books, then I am fine with you nominating your own.

All nominations must be young adult. No 18+ content. If you are not sure, then play it safe and don't nominate it! If it is a book that you really want to see as a group read, then message me. There's a chance that I might have read it and would approve it for you.

Keep in mind, though, that I am only in charge of historical and realistic nominations. If you want to nominate a fantasy book, make sure that you are following any rules Ms. Jackie has implemented.

Let's get started!

I'd like to nominate Halfway to the Sky by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. It's a great book! I might nominate more books if no one else does!

Raven (howlisawesome) The book "Halfway to the Sky" looks like a book I'd like to read! I'll plan on reading it next.

Cool! I loved it! And I'm not the hugest realistic fiction fan, so that's saying something... I even bought it for my kindle after I read the library's copy. I've read it five times (at least) and it is a definite favorite of mine. And so far, it seems to be the only contender for the August group read, which is perfectly fine with me, because I'd love to read it again. It's one of the books that I try to read at least once a year, and each time I get something new out of it that I hadn't noticed before. I guess that's because my perspective changes a little each time I read it. For me, the thing about realistic fiction is that I don't always like it to be TOO realistic, because I get bored... This is not boring!

Wow, that was a long speech about the praises of a single book...

Raven (howlisawesome) :) Yeah I plan to read it at one point in this month or August. I did however just start a new book on my Kobo and am not close to finishing it. But when I do, I will read "Halfway to the sky."

Alright, since only one nomination was made, it is the winner. Halfway to the Sky by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley will be the realistic fiction August group read. ;-)

message 8: by Raven (new)

Raven (howlisawesome) the library didn't have "Halfway to the sky, so I ordered it. I ordered it about a week ago so it should come it soon.

Cool, Raven! Since we won't officially start reading and discussing it until August, your timing should be perfect! And I have it on my kindle, but as I am starting back to school on August 5 (which is way to early for my tastes) I won't really be able to participate actively in the discussion until weekends roll around... ;-) I'm glad you're going to read it; it's really one of my favorite books!

Raven (howlisawesome) yay! Halfway to the Sky finally came in! I will start reading it tomorrow
