McGee Magoo Not to over-do the paranormal, but any one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Heroes-- Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, #4; Were-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Night Play (Dark-Hunter, #6; Were-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon These three are my favorites

Paganalexandria | 354 comments The Fever Series Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning ; Jericho Barrons is just everything. He is amoral and fine with it.

Kresley Cole's Immortal After Dark, especially Lothaire (Immortals After Dark, #12) by Kresley Cole A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole because they are very alpha and ethically challenged immortals.

Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1) by C.J. Roberts because Caleb is the scariest guy you could ever imagine yourself attracted to.

Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley The Morriseys Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Kim | 134 comments I second the recommendation for the Fever series and Barrons (yummy!)

I also recommend the Grave series by Darynda Jones (paranormal romance). Reyes Farrow is second only to Barrons in my book!

Her teen series is pretty good too although I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.

First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) by Darynda Jones Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones

Dmitry Medlov from the Medlov Series. I'm obsessed with the Medlov men!!! All I can say is that Dmitry is oh sooooo HOT!
Tattoos, 7ft tall, full of sinewy muscles, plus he's always dressed so dapper and charming. And everyone knows that I love a well-dressed man! And I can just imagine his sexy Russian accent; just makes me tremble. I love me some powerful Alpha Males! I would not mind being married to the mob if it means that I can have a man like Dmitry Medlov!

I'd never heard of these so I looked up the first one. Sounds interesting. I'll have to add it to my "to be read" pile.

message 16: by Alisa (new)

Alisa PNR---these series are both must reads

Lords of the Underworld
Midnight Breed

BDSM

Masters at Arms Series----this is a good "starter" series if you're new to this genre. Four soldiers come back from war & start a bdsm club together. This is the stories of their friendships and the women they fall in love with.
Masters at Arms (Rescue Me, #1) by Kallypso Masters Nobody's Angel (Rescue Me, #2) by Kallypso Masters Nobody's Hero (Rescue Me, #3) by Kallypso Masters Nobody's Perfect (Rescue Me, #4) by Kallypso Masters

The Master's of the Shadowland Series is also a classic. Lot's of different "master" types.
Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands, #1) by Cherise Sinclair

message 17: by Alisa (new)

Alisa Oops---almost forgot my boyfriend Dragos. Another classic pnr/uf.

Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison

Elizabeth | 3 comments OOOh so many come to mind! I love the ones people have listed that I've read and I'm looking forward to reading the ones that have been mentioned I haven't read. My faves no one has listed so far would include:

Paranormal

Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series though
The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5) by Karen Marie Moning is especially good. But I love them all.

Kresley Cole's IAD series is great, as is her new book
Shadow's Claim (The Dacians, #1) by Kresley Cole of her spin-off series The Dacians

Larissa Ione's Demonica series. Ecstasy Unveiled (Demonica, #4) by Larissa Ione This one was really good, about an assassin. But they're all great.

Historical Romance

Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels, #3) by Loretta Chase Very naughty and scary hero! Loved him! Don't need to read the first two in the series.

Lord of Fire (Knight Miscellany, #2) by Gaelen Foley Another good one. Good series.

Lisa Kleypas Wallflower series. It's really good, but this one has the bad boy and it's the best in the series: Devil in Winter (Wallflowers, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

Monica McCarty's Highland Guard series is excellent. This is my fave so far in the series (I'm 4 books in, there are 7 out) and he is definitely the bad boy and outcast of the bunch The Viper (Highland Guard, #4) by Monica McCarty

Lord of Scoundrels is an absolute favorite of mine! Loved Sabastian and the heroine! Nether hero nor heroine are held to impossible ideals of physical appearance or wealth. And the story conflicts are more realistic real life challenges (of the historical time) such as lost reputation, gambling addiction, illegitimate children, false friends, family dis-function, etc.

Loved Devil in Winter and the whole Wallflowers series too! The lovers chose to become more through the motivation of love - not less. A little bit of history and culture with bad boys, hot sex, AND hearts and flowers.

Alisa I think under CR you should add:

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James ok don't hate on me but seriously whether you liked it or not it's a classic. It's spurned countless other similar books & opened a bunch of discussion about women, romance novels, etc etc

Real (Real, Raw & Ripped, #1) by Katy Evans

Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard, #1) by Christina Lauren

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

I haven't read the following but it seems like everyone else has & that they are super popular:

Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno, #1) by Sylvain Reynard
Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day Crossfire series

I have to respectfully disagree. Since the first book was literally Twilight fan fiction, you could argue that Twilight was really the book that spawned countless others. I give EL James (or whatever her name is) zero credit for that. And on a personal note, I disrespect her too much to even bother linking to her in this post.

I added Fifty Shades of Grey based on your recommendation, Alisa. With all due respect, Kim, I don't think we all have to agree with choices for them to be added to the list. The parameters aren't quite that narrow for this list. We're bound to have differing tastes, but I think any members who would like to suggest titles are entitled to have books added to the list.

message 45: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments I didn't mean to suggest that it shouldn't be added. I think I was confused about the topic of the thread. Too many for me to keep up with I guess. :) Apologies if I offended anyone.

I was in no way offended by your remarks Kim. I agree we are bound to have differing tastes as Lady D had suggested and I thought this was the forum to express our opinions. My sensibilities get 'offended' when I see erotica suggested as required reading for a topic such as "required reading for dangerous hero lovers". But Lady D. is correct when she suggests we are not all going to agree. I just wanted to let you know that (I felt) you were in no way offensive in your comment.

It's no problem. I wasn't offended. I just want to make sure the everyone knows their opinions are considered valid, so long as the hero/supporting characters qualify for the broad definition of dangerous hero.

Hope my response wasn't poorly worded. My brain is uber-fried after working a long day today and little sleep. :(
