What would you like to read next?

message 2: by Kanita (last edited Jul 11, 2013 12:08AM) (new)

Kanita Carington-McDonald (kanitacaringtonmcdonald) | 44 comments Any particular theme for August? Off the top of my head here are a few that come to mind:

Wading Home A Novel of New Orleans by Rosalyn Story by Rosalyn Story

Conception by Kalisha Buckhanon by Kalisha Buckhanon

32 Candles by Ernessa T. Carter by Ernessa T. Carter

The Warmest December by Bernice L. McFadden by Bernice L. McFadden

Freshwater Road by Denise Nicholas by Denise Nicholas

The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat by Edward Kelsey Moore by Edward Kelsey Moore

Black Water Rising by Attica Locke by Attica Locke

Darkness And The Devil Behind Me by Persia Walker by Persia Walker

Voodoo Dreams A Novel of Marie Laveau by Jewell Parker Rhodes by Jewell Parker Rhodes

Little Black Girl Lost by Keith Lee Johnson by Keith Lee Johnson

A Free Man of Color (Benjamin January, #1) by Barbara Hambly by Barbara Hambly

Ok so a "few" turned into several! Lol! But...from chick-lit to mystery...I've heard and read good things about each of these. Oh, and I think the last 4 titles are each a first book in a series.

What is your vote for us to read in August?

message 8: by Lindor (new)

Lindor Joelle | 133 comments Hello ladies! I was wondering if your group showed any love to self-published authors? I'm a newly published African-American author and I'd love to throw my title into the mix for one of your upcoming discussions. I can even throw in discussion questions AND participate in a live chat (maybe via skype? or even in person if anyone is located in the NYC area).

Just figured I would ask. Here are details on my title. AND I'm having a giveaway right now in case anyone would like to throw their names into the ring now :) Happy reading ladies and please let me know your thoughts if you are able.

Frozen Time is the story of 3 college seniors who find themselves embroiled in an interracial love triangle while dealing with painful issues of their pasts. It's about love...about class..about race. Ultimately it asks the question: is it possible to truly love another without first learning to love yourself?

Ciao,

Lindor Joelle Frozen Time Frozen Time by Lindor Joelle

message 31: by Kanita (new)

Kanita Carington-McDonald (kanitacaringtonmcdonald) | 44 comments Hello everyone!
I began reading today so I'm not too far along but 32 Candles has started out really good! I believe this one will be hard to put down! And, as far as Ms Davidia Jones...she's smart, sassy, and an absolutely funny, fresh new character! I am a fan of Davidia Jones!!!!!!

Can't wait to read more and discuss it over on our 32 Candles discussion thread! See everyone there! : )

I agree that Davidia is all those things and I would add calculating. Let me know if your image of her changes as you read further in the book.
