Ruth | 2483 comments as a general rule, eighteen. But then some people are more mature/immature than others, so I guess maybe later or earlier for them.

Ella (AWholeLotofNothing) | 386 comments There is no age. There are no fine lines between child, teen, and adult.

notyourfriend (amemori) | 147 comments I think you are considered a REAL adult when you're like 21....

Sierra (skippingstones4) I don't think an exact age can really be pinpointed for entering adulthood. I think it's different for everybody. Some people are forced to grow up faster because of circumstances in their lives. Others don't necessarily have to grow up as fast.

for a comedian that wasnt very funny

but yes it is a good quote though

Jenn (ace-geek) It's different for everyone. That's why it's so hard to pin down an age that you can drive, drink etc. that would apply to everyone in a country/state. I know plenty of people old enough to drive that shouldn't be in control of 1600 pounds of metal.

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments I read a quote in a book that said you grow up when you start to worry about the future. This quote is what I find the most relevant to adulthood. As I worry a little about the future but I also don't I know I'm not yet an adult. The day will come when I only worry about the future and that's when I will call myself an adult. So i think it is different for everyone.

Ella (AWholeLotofNothing) | 386 comments Well the thing is, before we know, we need to figure out what we call an "adult". Some would say that it is when they are mature in their actions. But there are plenty of adults who are immature, and plenty of kids who are mature. So this question technically, cannot be answered. (I dont mean to kill the convo)

message 9: by Billy (new)

Billy | 195 comments I don't think it is the same for everyone, but I would guess from 17-22 is when most people "enter adulthood". I guess the process could be accelerated though by having more responsibilities like a job, college, relationships, ect.

Faye (asdfayeiouvwxyz) | 269 comments I agree with Billy.

Adulthood can really be entered whenever. It is when you are forced to grow up. Usually, when a teenager goes to college, they are forced to grow up, get a job, and possibly a house. Unfortunately, some children have to grow up too soon. When you hear stories about a 14 year old girl who takes care of her 2 year old twins because her father's a drunk, she may be considered an adult, because she had to grow up. So.... I think you are an adult when you have a large amount of responsibility. (Maturity also matters, but I wanted to throw in a new opinion.)

Ember Skye | 148 comments I think it's up to the persons Maturity

message 13: by Chantae (new)

Chantae B. I think it just depends on the person some people become more mature (mentally) earlier than others because an 18 year old can be legally considered an adult when really they act like they're still 2 years old.
