Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.

Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.

Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…

JSWolf | 39 comments Why was book 6 of a series picked? This is totally unfair to those of us who have not read any of this series.

Angela (smwelles) | 13 comments I love this series! Go read it JSWolf. You'll be glad you did!

Jon, this group has read all 5 of the previous books. So we are now going to read the 6th.

If you want, you can read the beginning of the series and catch up with us. This series is beloved so there are people who would be willing to discuss with you.

JSWolf | 39 comments In that case, it's OK. I didn't know the group had already read the previous 5. Sorry.

Katie (luckdragon777) | 34 comments Ilona Andrews? Count me in!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I am so freaking excited about this book. Have had it pre-ordered for months now.

Can't do an ebook, I need a paper copy to drool over (and add to my library).

Angela (smwelles) | 13 comments When I saw this topic I was like omg the book's out all of the sudden? *rushes to amazon.com and finds out it's not out until the end of the month* XD Got it pre-ordered.

So sorry to have worried you! :-D But now that it's all pre-ordered... *sigh of relief*

I totally pre-ordered at the first opportunity.

AND I'm buying a copy of the Innkeeper Chronicles when it gets to final pub. *so excited*

Yes, I think a number of us did. :) Which is why we decided to break our normal nominations and go straight to an enthusiastic group read. I'm excited!

Love Ilona Andrews!

Shes been talking about it on her blog. They have a audio in the works but the pub is trying to delay the release a bit. She said shes heard about that from fans.

Last I heard - IIRC - she was pushing back at the pub to do the release at the same time.

Even if they release it a few weeks later I could do it! I waited over two months for Steel's Edge to be released though...

Aelliana (aelli) | 41 comments I have a tendency to save books I really want to read. Sometimes so long that the next book by that author comes out before I've read the previous one... I'm NOT going to do that with Magic Rises!

I still haven't read Magic Tests (from An Apple for the Creature), and I also have a couple of the Curran stories left, so I'm going to read them while I wait :)

Definitively no judging :)

Are you scared its not going to live up to expectations, or is it awe over a new book?

I have a tendency to save books I really, really want to read, just so I know they are there, unread. Waiting for me...

"...waiting of me, unread..."

Mostly because I want to read it sooooo bad. Work has been kicking my booty and I don't want the book gone before the work load decreases. I squee inside every time I look at it.

Tired would fit, because they are working on several contracted works as well as personal projects...and daily life with teens. That's what really makes me admire them: they don't compromise on the quality of the story.

Ha! I totally get this. I remember feeling exactly like then when

A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold came out. It was like having the precioussss. I don't think I cracked the book open except to reverently caress the pages until like a week after getting it.

lol I've never done that before, letting a book I've been so eager to read just sit there.
