This has got to be one of my all time favorite scifi books, and a phenomenal start to one of the most epic stories I have ever read.
Dan Simmons voraciously attacks all those concepts we love to mix up in scifi:
time travel, time debt based on faster-than-light space travel, reincarnation, Christianity/Catholicism, Judaism, artificial intelligence, environmentalists, war, love, grief, murder mysteries...
Its an opus. Its EPIC.
Have you read it? And if so, what did you think? How far into the series did you go? (I never made it past Endymion, the third book)
