Shadowdenizen | 14 comments So, I just finished my great rewatch of DS9. On the whole, it holds up well after 20 years!

But, the ending got me excited to read more, so I started on the relaunch stuff. (Some of it I bought hard-copy over the years and never read, the rest I filled out with the Ebook versions.)

And I'm likeing it much more than I though I would. I read the "Twist of Faith" compilation, [whihc combines the first 4 books into 1 volume], and just started Mission: Gamma.

Anyone else read/have thoughts on this series? (No spoilers post- Mission:Gamma ,please!!)

Jody | 7 comments I think its a great continuation of the series. New characters are developed a bit more such as Shar, Vaughn, and Tenmei. You get to see more of how Andorian society functions. You also see DS9 crew exploring - something other ST crews did all the time but never DS9. Plus you get Quark and Vic Fontaine - what more could you want. Enjoy.

Shadowdenizen | 14 comments Vic Fontaine? Ugh, is it possible to shove fictional hologram out of an airlock?

That said, I am digging the "new cast" thus far, and the storylines they're setting up ap pretty compelling. (Itry to studiously acoid spoilers, but I have heard some for "Typhon Pact" series which sound both cool and alarming...

Shadowdenizen | 14 comments Ditto!

Hard to believe that A) DS9 is 20 years old, and B) The relaunch books have been running for 13 years.

I've got several recs for the "Corps of Engineers" stuff, and the "Depart of Temporal Anomalies" stuff, but I want to catch up to current on the DS9 stuff before I branch out.

Additionally, I've been litening to the Gamma Quadrant podcast, which summarizes and reviews all the Ds9 episodes. It's quite enjoyable to listen to, and 3 hosts seem genuinely likable.

Jody | 7 comments I will add this to my earlier thoughts...I may not have enjoyed every plot thread in the DS9 relaunch, I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the arcs of the characters. Some of the species and conflicts/crisis the Defiant came up against were not that interesting to me, but I loved seeing how the crew was effected by them. Character development/growth was what set DS9 apart from the other ST series. I think for the most part the DS9 relaunch has carried that on.

Adam Collings (adamcollings) | 3 comments I greatly enjoyed the DS9 relaunch. I got as far as Unity, then read one of the 'worlds of DS9' books. Haven't really read much Star Trek since then. It would be great to continue and see where the re-launch went after that. I wonder if I can source then for my Kindle.
