My name is Kait Neese and I am the creator of this wonderful group of ours! I work full time with my publishing firm and work this Goodreads group as a side project because I really do love the concept of authors being in charge of their own success. However I have a responsibility/duty to my direct authors and my employers to make sure that comes first - which I am sure you can understand.

I have so enjoyed watching this group grow and authors around the world coming together to help one another out. So a big thank you to everyone out there who is taking their success into their own hands and realizing other authors are not the enemy and that working together will take you so much further than working against one another. (Ok ok end of cheesy moment, smile)

I posted a thread a few months ago about what three things matter most to you, as an author, that a publisher could do to help you out. Really help you out. I had some great feedback and really appreciate the comments made! (The post can be found by clicking here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...)

That being said I noticed a few authors mentioned distribution as something they would like publishers to help out more with. I do quite a bit of traveling to international book fairs and specialize in helping authors and sm/medium sized publishers “go global”.

I will be hosting a webinar on book rights (translation rights) and distribution into China on August 6th at 2:00 pm EST. I wanted to give my appreciation and gratitude to all of the authors in this group for their continued dedication and participation on these threads so I thought this might be a really cool thing to do. (Free of charge of course : )

Here are the details for the live webinar on August 6th!
=========================================
Please Join Us for a FREE Webinar to Learn More about the Publishing Industry in China and how, you as an author, can access and sell your book(s) to one of the largest reading markets in the world.

Topic: China – A market YOU can’t afford to overlook…

Speakers:
Kait Neese, Director, Best Selling Books Rights Agency (BSBRA)
Patrick Morgan, Publicist, Author Marketing Ideas (AMI)

Date: August 6th, 2:00 pm (EST)

Cost: Free for Goodreads authors in this group

Registration Form: https://strategicbookpublishing.wufoo...

We will be discussing:

• China Publishing (Industry Profile & Current Trends) - Did you know there are more than 230 million people under the age of 16 in China? Or that 90% of available children’s content is imported??
• Book Right Basics – What they are, how many you actually have and how “digital” fits into this.
• Distribution Types & Opportunities: you can sell your ENGLISH ebook online right now in China as is, no translations necessary, on platforms just like Amazon in the US. You can also sell your ENGLISH content to libraries, schools and government institutions.

China is hungry for Western Literature from almost every genre out there and with the globalization of publishing and the digital transformation taken place because of the internet there is no reason why you shouldn’t be actively selling and promoting your titles (online) in other countries.

China is just a click away! Register Here: https://strategicbookpublishing.wufoo...

As I mentioned above this is something I want to give each and every one of you a chance to sit in, free of charge, as a BIG THANK you for being a member of this group. Simply put you inspire me and it is authors like you out there doing your thang that make me love my job. The world is our oyster and anyone has the chance to make their dreams come true as long as you’re willing to take control into your own hands…I mean come on how awesome is that?

Hope to see you on the 6th!

Alan Toner | 30 comments There is only one problem with trying to publish books in China: translating them. Chinese is an awfully difficult language to learn. I have longed to publish my paranormal and horror books to the Chinese market, knowing how big the potential is there for huge sales, but as I say, getting over the big hurdle of how to translate them is a big problem.

Justin Fenech | 21 comments My first short-story collection is an anthology of thought-provoking narratives that take literature and readers seriously. We writers have a responsibility to challenge our readers' complacency and to provide society with the thought-experiments only fiction can deliver truthfully.

We are a literary animal and fiction is our best means of problem-solving and self-indulgence. This collection tries to provide that with stories about conservation, the Taliban, and the immorality of charity - to name but a few.

By all means, indulge.

Alan Toner | 30 comments I always thought that to market your books to China, you had to translate them (apparently NOT easy) first. I would LOVE to market my ghost and horror Kindle books to China, but how on earth can I do with them being all in English???
