What book did you just finish reading? What did you think of it? Was it good or bad? Would you recommend it to others?

I finished Bronze Gods by Ann & Andres Aguirre today: Bronze Gods (Apparatus Infernum, #1) by A.A. Aguirre .

It's a steampunk murder mystery (with a hint of fantasy) set in a fantasy city with some aspects of a promised future romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! If you like intelligent steampunk aimed at adult readers, I'd recommend this book!

message 3: by Jeshu (new)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) I'll add it to my tbr because I so trust your judgement :D

So I finished off a few this weekend.

Most notably, Elysian Fields by Suzanne Johnson: Elysian Fields (Sentinels of New Orleans, #3) by Suzanne Johnson

This is the third book in a series, but it has quickly become one of my favourite urban fantasy series! ^^

I just wish book 4 were available now now now!

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I've finished Release Me - J. Kenner. Is kinda like Fifty Shades and Bare To You style book, so intense are the characters that I throughly enjoyed it. Now I can't decide whether to read next installment or carry on reading something I started lol.

message 6: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I have finished Claim Me - J. Kenner which I thought the characters are so intense now with the way Damien and Nikki are learning about each other. It's still in the style of 50 Shades.

message 7: by Jeshu (new)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) I've finished The Calling (Dragon Age, #2) by David Gaider ... great book with a few plot twists :D

I just finished Silence (Hush, Hush, #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick and I really enjoyed it, though It wasn't as good as the two books before. I didn't like the fact (view spoiler).

If you want a simple book series and also short series as it's only 4 books and completed then I would deffo recommend the first book which is Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick .

I am now going to start the last book in the series :)

TAMMY CUEVAS (tammy1965) I just finished Whispers On The Dock (Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn #3) by Evangeline Kelley for review.

message 14: by Joe (new)

Joe Pfeiler The Illustrated Olive Farm: https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

It was great to see the places I read about in the Olive Farm Trilogy come to life with pictures. The book is a quick, fun read.

message 15: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I've had a 5hr bath and finished Vigilante - Kerry Wilkinson. Had some spelling/grammar mistakes, but all in all a very good thriller. I kinda guessed near the end who was doing it and will be carrying on reading the rest of the series.

message 16: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I've finally given up on Halfhead - Stuart MacBride

"I am sorry to say that I have given this as much energy and time as I can, but I still can't get into the storyline. I have no idea the characters are like the way they are. Not sure where the story is going with a prolific serial killer not doing much as it is and why the police officer is just sat in a pub moaning.

Oh well, I do love Stuart MacBride's books. But I really couldn't get my head and teeth into this Sci-fi style book".

message 21: by Kat (new)

Kat (ramblekatramble) | 1 comments I just finished Easy by Tammara Webber and I am now LOST! It was a perfect 'get your mind out of reality' read. It was not a typical book for me (I don't really like Beautiful Disaster or books from the New Adult genre.) Right now I just need books that are well written but quick reads and are somewhat suspenseful and romantic. I know, that's silly, but that is what I am in the mood for right now and I keep finding NA books that are awful to read because of the writing or characters or romance/erotica which doesn't have a good enough story. HELP! What do I read next?!?!?

Hey Kat, a bit late but you could try The Restorer by Amanda Stevens. It's thriller, not mystery, but it has an underlying romance! (Mind, this doesn't come to a head until book 3).

I read Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters earlier this year. It's got mystery, humour, and a touch of romance (no "intimate" scenes, though. It's clean).

Julie James is good romantic fun as well. Try Something About You.

It's not mystery, but I also highly recommend The UnTied Kingdom by Kate Johnson. (She writes mystery/romance as well, but I've not read that series). The UnTied Kingdom is a fabulous read! Jeshu, Tara, and Emma all read and loved it, too! ^^

message 49: by Madhavi (new)

Madhavi (madhavij) | 19 comments Finished Reading

Heat Wave - Nikki Heat series Book #1.

I a big fan of the castle series on television. I was curious about the book and grabbed the book immediately.
Book is an average thriller read. If you are a fan of the series than you will not enjoy the book. You keep drawing parallels between caskett and nikki heat and jamie rook. Moreover you try to serach for the reel- screen chemistry between book chracters. Plus you also try to draw parallels between the cases caskett have solved and the incidents in the book plot.

Go for it minus the series expectations.
