As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner - from my to-read list

Finishing:
The White Forest, Adam McOmber
The Complete Illustrated Works of Lewis Carroll

Re-reading/listening:
Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning - because it always makes me smile

J.W. Kent (jwkent) | 14 comments Just started "A Fortress in Shadow" by Glen Cook

message 4: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Just started The Ocean at the End of the Lane

Been reading A Storm of Swords sporadically throughout the summer. I've had to keep shoving it aside because new books from favorite authors/movie adaptations keep popping up. Maybe by the Fall I'll finally be finished with it, but I have to say Martin has really stepped on my heart with this one.

I'm also 43% done with Rituals

message 6: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm reading The Demon King and Killing Floor. Both are going great.

Benjamin - now is definitely the time to read Locke Lamora as the third book in the series is coming out this fall after a very looong wait.

message 7: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) | 0 comments @D.G. I love the Seven Realms series! Going to reread them soon :)

I'm finishing up my reread of The Magician, book 2 in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott, and I think I'll reread the next book this month as well. Also going to resume the Wheel of Time series; hoping to reread Game of Thrones as well. Essentially the year of rereads for me ;)

message 9: by Dhanusha (new)

Dhanusha | 109 comments Reading the Tawny Man series by Robin Hobb..Will move on to The Riyria Revelations series after that.

message 10: by Chris (new)

Chris (cpostings) How are you finding that series Dhanusha? I've been meaning to read it for a good while!

message 11: by Katarina (new)

Katarina (andromedakat) I'm reading the Riftwar Saga books by Raymond E. Feist. I've read the first book and I can't put the next one, Magician: Master down.

D.G. Michelle Elizabeth wrote: "@D.G. I love the Seven Realms series! Going to reread them soon :)"

It's so awesome! If I known how good it was, I would have started it sooner!

Thankfully I have book 2 in my hands. ;)

Really good so far. I'm normally wary of sequel series but this one seems like it will definitely live up to the Farseer trilogy. Do read.

message 14: by Chris (new)

Chris (cpostings) Ah great, glad you're enjoying it. Cheers, I definitely will do!

Magician's End is currently 99p in Amazon UK, must be a mistake!

message 16: by Satinder (new)

Satinder Hi everyone, I just joined this group today.

I'm reading The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss

because my fellow Song of Ice and Fire fans recommended it. I read some reviews beforehand and unfortunately the negative points seem to be coming true...I'm waiting for something BIG to happen and so far it hasn't (I'm on chapter 43). Anyway, I'll be looking around this group to get some more ideas on what to read next. Might go for The Steel Queen (The Silk & Steel Saga, #1) by Karen Azinger

message 17: by Tara (new)

Tara (tarabookreads) I am reading Clockwork Angel because I couldn't find anything else to read (even though I have a long to-read list that I couldn't choose from) and it has good reviews..
After that I am planning on reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane

message 18: by Ugur (new)

Ugur (ugur_basak) I've read The Companions and The Crown Tower both of them are great books.

And planning to read Blood of Tyrants next week.

The Companions by R.A. Salvatore The Crown Tower (The Riyria Chronicles #1) by Michael J. Sullivan Blood of Tyrants (Temeraire, #8) by Naomi Novik

D.G. I pre-ordered the audio of The Crown Tower but I'll be leaving the country today. I hope I'll be able to download it tomorrow from my hotel!

D.G. The Crown Tower is really a great book.

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments A note to people posting books - when you only post the cover, people with tablets and smart phones can't read them. Please post the book name along with the title.

message 23: by Ethan (new)

Ethan Bond The Left Hand of God by Paul Hoffman

The first in a dark fantastical trilogy, definitely gonna read the next books!

message 24: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey | 124 comments Just finished A Wizard of Earthsea... enjoyable, although I think I'd have liked it more if I had read it at a younger age. Recently finished Code Name Verity which was excellent (although YA historical fiction, not sff).

Working on Tawny Man #2: Golden Fool and my new copy of the super-hard-to-find Celtic Teas with Friends.

message 25: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Harris Right now I'm reading Split. It's contemporary, and I was trying to break out of my shell. After that, I want to read Emperor of Thorns. 'cuz it's cool. But I'll probably end up reading Full Moon Kisses, which is so lame, but I'm doing a series review on it so I want to finish it.

message 26: by Martha (new)

Martha (tilla) | 194 comments I'm re-reading Ann Bishop's "The Invisible Ring". Doing a LOT of re-reading this summer while waiting for the next Scott Lynch or Sarah Monette/Elizabeth Bear to come out

message 27: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments I'm just starting up Matthias Thulmann: Witch Hunter by C.L. Werner -- so far, it seems suitably grim and grubby.

message 28: by David (new)

David (davidjburrows) | 25 comments War of the Fae by Elle Casey. I've read book 1 and 2. Book 1 is free currently on Kindle and is a very good read. Book 2 was a little slow to start with but then picked up hugely. Just downloaded the other two books. Very lively and novel plot and interesting characterisation. Excellent books and would recommend them.

Great book! The second in the series, Red Seas under Red Skies is just as good! Third in the series comes out in October if I remember right.

I was this close to starting Lies earlier this year, but when I heard about the third book I decided to wait until I could do them all at once. The only Lynch I've read is some short stories in various anthologies, but I really liked what I've seen.

message 32: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) | 0 comments I'm almost finished reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. I was thinking of following it up with a reread of Coraline, but I'm not really sure about what I want to read today. So many books on my shelves, but nothing to read! LOL ;)

message 38: by Bryan (new)

Bryan Reading The Black Company right now, and it's my first taste of Glen Cook. It may also be my last. Not entirely sure why people find this series so impressive, but I'll push through and finish the first book at least. Might read The Lies of Locke Lamora next.

I'm excited to read it. Am I right in saying the second book involves pirate ships? Man, I do like me some pirates.

Just finished The Name of the Wind today. Had to skim read by the end, not as great as I'd hoped :(

message 40: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyc89) For those of you talking about The Lies of Locke Lamora & Red Seas Under Red Skies- great books! The second was just as good as the first. I'm looking forward to the next book, The Republic Of Thieves, to come out in the next few months.

Earlier this month I read Redshirts which was soooo good! If you're a scifi fan, especially a Star Trek fan, it's a must read. It's funny but gives you something to think about, too.

I'm more than halfway done with the Deadlocked audio. I'm enjoying it but haven't listened to it much the past few days because I've been more in the mood for music while driving. I'm almost done (kind of) with The Golem and the Jinni. I'm on edge waiting for certain characters to inevitably cross paths and I'm enjoying the anticipation. This author definitely knows how to build a story. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend. I've also started Hounded but I'm only a chapter in.

Prince of Thorns, followed by King and onto Emperor. Excellent reads. I've given up on The Claw of the Conciliator. I don't care about the characters enough to keep going.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments My copy of The Crown Tower arrived in the mail yesterday, so getting busy with that :)

message 46: by Mpauli (new)

Mpauli I finished The Forge of Darkness and am still reading Black Sun Rising and Ship of Magic.

Last Argument of Kings is up on the 15th for another book club and The Curse of Chalion and The Thousand Names are lurking on the horizin.
But maybe - with so many dark and heady tomes - I'm throwing something light in, like Sourcery or God Save the Queen.

It really is. If the remaining books stay as good as they are now (I've read roughly 1/3 of each) then I might hand out 3 5-star ratings in one month, what would be quite unique.

message 50: by Curtis (new)

Curtis Shephard I am currently reading Geist (a book of the order). I am about halfway through it, and frankly not enjoying it. But I will see it through to the end. I'll start something new afterwards, I want to see a kick butt hero do some kick butt things, but still quality story. Any recommendations?
