And I absolutely loved Showdown.

That's good insight.
I was thinking that he's some kind of agent of judgement, judgement to visit on the town of Paradise. And he seems to have the ability to mete it out. Just who sent him? Don't know yet. But David Abraham said to Marsuvees early on that God may need him.
However, Marsuvees' style seems rather devious ...
BTW, so sorry to hear about the flood and your car. I'm not sure what to say. I pray that God restores things for you swiftly.

Bryan, I'm so sorry to hear that. Please don't apologize to us! Do what you need to do. Praying for better times ahead!

And so far, most of the book has been written from the point of view of young teenagers. So, it's beginning to take on a young adult novel feel.
Not that it's a bad thing, just making an observation.
It's my first Ted Dekker book, so I'm not sure what to expect.
I'm not sure yet if I'd prefer that to change.
Thoughts anyone? Is the YA feel (so far) a good, bad, or neutral thing for ya? Just curious ...

The book is not listed under YA so I'm not totally sure. It's supposed to be an extension of the Circle Trilogy books. We can abandon the series next month if we need to.

And so far, most of the book has been writte..."
I don't think it's categorized as a YA book, but rather an adult novel. The writing from the kids POV will make sense in the end as will the various little spiritual references he drops along the way.
It's somewhat of an extension to the Circle Books, but the overlap is negligible. The Paradise series can be read as standalone. However, having read the Circle books first, I think the tie-ins are quite fun to discover.

Ah, good. Thank you. :)
The philosophical discussions, Andrew's and David's argument, and Billy's rationalizations certainly point the book out of the YA category. I enjoyed those.

A small bit about myself:
I am new to C..."
You seem humble and that is a great thing to be.

Me also. Poor guys, some of us ladies want to read this kind of stuff also.

No worries, Bryan.
Praying for the Lord to get you through this and to increase your faith and confidence in Him along the way. Draw near to Him and He will prove faithful.
A small bit about myself:
I am new to Christian Fiction. I have recently felt the Lord prompting me to re-evaluate the books I choose to read. I have been on quite a journey to find that one "book" that could get me back into reading, and I have left many unfinished books in my wake.
I am very excited to have found this group, and I hope that this section geared towards male readers, will indeed be successful, and grow into something special that not only glorifies our one true God, but also helps further enrich our lives and our faith.
As mentioned before, I am looking to make books a bigger part of my life, and I hope being a part of this group can help me achieve this. I would like to thank Jodie, and all of the Christian Fiction Devourers moderators for giving me this opportunity, and I sincerely hope that I can meet, and even exceed, your expectations. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to send me a private message, or post it in the appropriate forum. God bless you all, and may the reading begin!
