Stephanie I just started this so I thought I would create a posting even though I don't have much to say at this point. So far, it is not as good as I expected, but I will keep reading.

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments I started this last year and never finished it, which is unusual for me. I normally stick a book out until the end. My son loved it! I didn't dislike it; it just never really caught my attention. I had a lot going on when I started it, so maybe I was too distracted to get into it. I might pick it back up since you're reading it Stephanie and we can compare thoughts.

Stephanie My husband is also reading it. He is not a huge reader, but I thought he would like the story with its office satire. He isn't that into it either, and he is almost done. Pick it up again so we can compare thoughts!

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments Okay Stephanie, I've picked it back up. I had to skim over what I'd already read because I had forgotten the characters names, but I've read a little more. I'm about halfway through it. I don't find it very engrossing but I'll stick with it.

Bookmarks Magazine (bookmarksmagazine) | 32 comments Oh no, you guys are going to think I stole all my ideas from this group! My next "Letter from the Editor" is on books that I didn't finish. I liked Stephanie's topic for it here, so I figured I'd muse on it and get to promote this group again :-). Anyway, the most recent book I couldn't finish: Then We Came to the End. Will someone please tell me if the last 5 pages are somehow worth it?

Jon

Stephanie Jon - Did you read Gilead? That is the million dollar question.

By the way, I am thrilled with the mention of the group again. My mom was so proud of her adult daughter, she wanted a copy of the last issue.

We had new members because of that last issue, so hopefully this will improve membership further!

Bookmarks Magazine (bookmarksmagazine) | 32 comments heh - I started Gilead at a time where I realized I wasn't ready for a slower-paced book. So I stopped. NOT yet a book I Didn't Finish. Just one I Need to Come Back To. :-)

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments Jon, I know Stephanie and I are in agreement about Gilead. I don't know if it was somewhere on this site or the Busy as a Bee group where I said it should be promoted as a non-addictive sleep aid.

If I ever get to the end of Then We Came to the End, I'll let you know my thoughts on the last 5 pages.

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments I started this book a year ago and could never quite get into it. I picked it back up this week and gave it a second chance. I related to the office pranks, gossip and nuances of the workplace. Some of these things even made me smile because I've been there; yet I never found the book to be entertaining. National bestseller? I'm not sure what all the hype was about. I tried to like the book, but alas, all I can really say about it is I'm glad I came to the end.

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments Oh, and Jon the last 5 pages did seem rather pointless. I guess that's because I never really cared about the characters, therefore I didn't care what happened after they lost their jobs.

Ah, there's a couple hours of my life I can go enjoy reading something else. Thanks Lisa!

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments Stephanie, Have you thrown in the towel on this book?

message 13: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie 83 pages read. Stick a fork in it. I cannot do it.

Stephanie As a sidenote after checking my email account - just sold my copy on half.com.

Then we came to the end...of my owning this rubbish.

Molly Hart | 3 comments I didn't like it either. I thought I would and I circled it in my Bookmarks Mag. It did not affirm my faith in humanity or teach me something new; rather it was slightly depressing, because it was about nothing. Felt very empty. And the clown business kind of freaked me out. Bizarre.
