Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) This group seems to be missing a thread where members can introduce themselves to each other. This is where can do that.

message 2: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) Wait, is this something a moderator would start instead of another member?

message 8: by Heather (new)

Heather Gilbert | 12 comments Hi everyone! Nice to join. Right now I am reading Joanne Bischof's MY HOPE IS FOUND and I love Lori Benton's BURNING SKY. I also added my Viking historical novel to the book list--it's releasing November first, 2013--GOD'S DAUGHTER. I'm excited to get a book in this relatively untouched time period out to readers, especially since it delves into the struggle of Viking paganism with Christianity. It's based on a real Christian from the Icelandic sagas who traveled to North America w/her hubby (Gudrid Thorbjarnardottir). Nice to "meet" you all!

message 9: by AnnaLee (new)

AnnaLee Conti | 12 comments Heather's upcoming book, God's Daughter, sounds interesting. I'd like to read it. You may like my recently released book, Till the Storm Passes By, first inspirational novel in my Alaskan Waters series. My experiences growing up as a missionary daughter in Alaska heavily inform my writing.

message 10: by Heather (new)

Heather Gilbert | 12 comments Thank you, Annalee! Will check yours out too! I would LOVE to visit Alaska someday.

message 11: by AnnaLee (new)

AnnaLee Conti | 12 comments Heather, in the meantime, you can view photos of Alaska on my "mini cruise" of Southeast Alaska on my website pages at www.annaleeconti.com.

Brenna | 6 comments Hello everyone...I'm Brenna. I recently joined. I read a lot as a preteen and teenager for pleasure, but just lost it for 30 years. Rediscovered a passion for reading thanks to some books written by MaryLu Tyndall about 2 years ago. Loving this whole genre of historical Christian fiction I never new existed! Just finished the first third of the Sophie's Daughters Triology, Doctor in Petticoats. Gonna start number 2 here in a minute! Blessings to all!

My favorite is historical Christian Fiction so this is a great group for me! The most recent historical fiction book I've read was Love's Awakening by Laura Franz. I've also recently read MaryLu Tyndall, Julie Cantrell and Julie Klassen this fall. One book I highly recommend is Burning Sky by Lori Benton. It's her debut novel and VERY good!! Look forward to being a part of the group!

I finished that one about a month ago, then read the 2nd book. Now have to wait for July for the third book. Hoping my memory can put it all together after that long! I've never been disappointed with MaryLu's writing. Enjoy!

Vanessa, not sure what you mean by Biblical fiction. I read mostly Christian themed historical fiction. Short Straw Bride was good and on Amazons Inspired Reads list today.

message 29: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Myers | 1 comments Hi everyone! I love Historical Christian Fiction, actually most Christian books. I recently finished The Chance by Karen Kingsbury.
One of my favorite Christian historical fiction books is The Swan House by Elizabeth Musser. If you liked The Help, you will love this book!
I just downloaded a lot of free Ebooks this week. I love reading! ;-)

Okay, thanks! Like stories about Ruth, David etc... Haven't tried any of those yet. Worried my brain might try to confuse actual scriptures....;)

Rachael (rachsramblings) | 32 comments Vanessa wrote: "Hi Brenna, by Biblical fiction, i mean events from the Bible.

AD Chronicles is done in Bible times. I'm currently on six. Five and six occur around the time of Christs birth. Lynn Austin's series I mentioned takes place in the OT Kings. I also read one called Mikhal...about David's wife....I'll have to find the author. Ben-Hur is a good one also, but it is considered a classic.

message 33: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (temagami) | 13 comments I recommend Bryant Cornett, Tim LeHaye
Lynn Austin and Joel Rosenberg...all great writers.

Thanks for the new recommendations; I'll check them out. I like Biblical Fiction a bit edgy, not shying away from the supernatural elements described in the Bible--for example when Gideon saw the angelic forces fighting overhead. Cool!

I recommend Liz Curtis Higgs. I've read two different series based on the Bible. I would start with Thorn in my Heart. Her books are AMAZING!!!

Jen (jenscarlett) | 7 comments Hi Everyone! My name is Jen and I am from the Pacific NW, small town in Wa State. I am married with two little girls who are five and two. I Love reading, my favorite pastime, but one I don't get to do much of with raising two little ones. I Love Christian Historical fiction books and some of my favorite Christian authors are: Francine Rivers, Jane Kirkpatrick, Miralee Ferrell, Karen Kingsbury, Lynn Austen and Michael Phillips. Just to name a few haha. I am new to Good Reads and though I probably won't get a ton of time to be on here, this group seems wonderful and I hope to pop in now and again to check in and see what's happening. And get ideas for new authors and books to read too. :)

MaryJo Dawson | 44 comments hello Jen, nice to meet you.

message 42: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (rachsramblings) | 32 comments Love the Thoenes! Great reads...lots to learn and take in. I love Michael Phillips, and his last four fiction books don't disappoint! I was so glad they were set in the UK! :)

message 43: by Wendy (last edited Feb 02, 2014 11:06AM) (new)

Wendy (temagami) | 13 comments I agree. I have read most of Theones' novels. But there is a new writer -Joseph Max Lewis- The Diaries of Pontius Pilate and The Separation of Church and State; both exceptional Christian thrillers. I also enjoy Joel Rosenberg and Tim LeHaye if you're looking for captivating stories.

message 44: by AnnaLee (new)

AnnaLee Conti | 12 comments Nice to meet you, Jen. Although I have lived in New York State for most of my adult life, I grew up in Alaska and most of my family now live in WA State. I went to college one year in Seattle. I visit my 92-year-old father each summer in Ellensburg. You might enjoy reading my two books set in Alaska: a historical fiction book, Till the Storm Passes By, first in my Alaskan Waters series. The second comes out soon. And Frontiers of Faith, the true story of Pioneer Alaskan missionaries 1917-1982. Details and to order see www.annaleeconti.com.

message 45: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenscarlett) | 7 comments Thank you Annalee! Ellensburg is actually not that far from where I live, beautiful area! And yes I def. want to check out your books, they sound wonderful! My husbands dream is to go to Alaska one day, he is a fisherman and hunter and thinks Alaska is a paradise for both. :) Thank you again for the welcome and for the book suggestions!

message 46: by Dave (new)

Dave Dillon | 2 comments Gee, a friend of mine suggested I try out this site, but I feel like the odd MAN out... My name is Dave. I like Christian historical fiction, but don't get to read it as often as I like. A majority the time, I'm reading on the non-fiction side. But I've already seen some titles in the comments that I need to check out. So hopefully you guys will encourage me to spend more time on the fiction side...

message 47: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenscarlett) | 7 comments Welcome Dave! I'm new here as well and like you read both fiction and non, but I much prefer historical fiction. So here is a big encouragement to check out some of the great books that are out there. So many more then I know I will have time to read, though I wish I could. :)

message 48: by MaryJo (new)

MaryJo Dawson | 44 comments Welcome Dave. We used to hear from Jack, author of The American Family series. I was going to look him up in previous posts, but just realized how difficult it is to go Back a Page on this site. anybody know how to do that?

message 49: by rzells (new)
