Anne Patkau | 93 comments How about a new folder called "Authors"? I sorted Helen Simpson with one blank between first and last names, seems to be a catch-all for living Helen Simpson b.1959 short story writer, and dead Helen de Guerry Simpson (1897-1940) UK mystery writer in the Detection Club who is called "Helen Simpson" in the old book listings.

I was left with two books only. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39... is short story collection, no year of publication, but old-fashioned looking cover. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12... has no ratings, reviews, or publication data, but I cannot delete because I am not a super-librarian. Seems not worth assigning elsewhere.

If these two books are sorted, the one-blank author can be deleted, and the two-blank author given one correct blank. If another questionable book shows up, then a two-blank author is more appropriate to a second author. I put links in relevant Author fields to help explain.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Both of those books were from the short story writer, so I've combined the profiles.

"has no ratings, reviews, or publication data, but I cannot delete because I am not a super-librarian."

If there is ANY chance that a listing is for an actual book, it must not be deleted. In this case, I couldn't actually confirm any stand-alone publication, but I'll look into it further to see if it ought to be merged into the collected publication or not.

The standard bio note is just "Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.", but if this is a common confusion, more information is better.

Most author issues are really book issues. Or series issues. And so on.
