She-Geeks discussion

Recently She-Geeks has been getting some attention from authors looking to do promotions & giveaways, and while this is definitely neat, we want to make sure this group doesn't become inundated with works don't fall in line with the groups core interests. In an effort to nip the problem in the bud (before it becomes a problem!), the mods have come up with a following strategy.

This is also being put in place to protect our members from potentially spammy giveaways that never come to fruition.

While the rules state that we are a promotion-free zone, we are keen to connect authors looking to give away their works to our members, but in a limited fashion. All authors looking for potential giveaways must follow these rules.

For Authors

1. If an author/creator is looking to have a give away through She-Geeks, or is looking for reviewers of a work, they must contact one of the moderator's first via private message in order to discuss it. This includes works that are being given away free via Amazon, Smashwords, etc.

2. Moderators have a right to delete any non-approved threads looking for reviewers or giveaways, or to ban people who join the group simply for self-promotion.

3. Moderators have a right to turn down anybody looking for reviewers or giveaways.

4. We will accept sci-fi/fantasy/horror fiction, as well as any comics and manga. If the work does not fall under any of those umbrellas, we will not accept it.

5. Under no circumstances is any money to change hands between the author and potential reader in either direction. However, an author can request an honest review in exchange for the work.

6. Please don't join the group just to promote your book. The moderators will be more likely to accept a give away if it is put forth by an active member. If you aren't interested in joining the group, but still want to do a giveaway, please contact a moderator directly.

7. Please note that failure to follow these guidelines, will result in the original poster's threads being deleted, and the poster being banned from the group.

For Readers

1. Give away and promotion threads will be strictly posted by any of the mods. If you see a thread offering a giveaway that isn't posted by a mod, it was not given approval.

2. If you are a reader and do not receive a copy of the work that was promised to you, please contact one of the moderators ASAP.

3. Please feel free to flag any threads you see that are offering giveaways but have not been posted by a mod so one of the mods can deal with it.
