HAHA! This is brilliant. Makes me all the more eager to buy a cat when I get to Norway- although I might not be able to because of travelling and shizz. Still, I'm thinking Kat Hamsun, Henrik Kitsen, Karl Ove Meowsgård or Kon-Kiti...

ZOMG. I think I just found out Swanky's heritage. Siamese + Norwegian Forest Cat! THAT's why she's got the fluffy chest & big paws! And the waterproof coat. It all makes sense now..


Norwegian Forest Cat

I love norwegian forest cats! I used to know someone who had two of them and they're such big adorable fluffies. With those giant snowshoe paws!

I had never heard the breed name before, but I have met cats that seem to fit the description. It would totally explain several Swanky traits, that's for sure - including the enormous, dextrous hands. I refuse to call them paws, since she uses them like hands.

I'd like to nominate for the Books That Can Be Read to Cats shelf some cozy mysteries in which cats play a major role. There's The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern and the rest of that series by Lilian Jackson Braun. The adorable Siamese cats Koko and Yum Yum are unforgettable. There's also No Cooperation from the Cat: A Mystery by Marian Babson who's written other mysteries with cats in them. AndLydia Adamson has a series of mysteries featuring cats.

Brilliant! I've yet to read a cat mystery. That would make a great future treasure hunt category...

I just stumbled across I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats on my library's e-book section. Of course I had to check it out, so I'll report back.

Here, I just saw this one on bookbub: Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, a Pampered Pets Mystery by Sparkle Abbey.

Posting that may have just given me diabetes.

I just discovered The Fur Person and TBR'd it. It looks ideal to be read to cats.

I have a whole blog dedicated to analyzing books about cats. I don't recommend most of them, and neither does my cat.

Cats! I can't show you a single picture of my cats hogging books, because when Sune does it, you can no longer see the books. I can however show you him "helping" to play keyboards:

BTW, Sune actually is a Norwegian Forest Cat :) He's also 20 odd pounds of mostly sharp bits and an enormous flooofffy tail. He's also aggressive to strangers, yells about everything, is a huge brat, thinks all women love him and are going to love him draping himself around their neck and drooling in their hair. So he is very well named after a pretty classic series of Swedish kid's books about a boy named Sune who is best described as a slightly older Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes, with added ladies man self-delusions. I'm not sure it's actually safe to read those to cats though, it'd just give them ideas.

Sune is gorgeous, and obviously knows it. I think the Norwegian Forest Cat needs to be the official cat of Chaos Reading.

I would like to nominate The Guest Cat. It looks perfect for any discerning cat. Alas, it is a TBR, so the recommendation is on synopsis alone...
