Curtis Chamberlain | 5 comments As an "escapee" of postmodern, humanistic New Age philosophical thought and belief systems, I have come to know the inherent soul-damning lies that they contain. I have written "The Judas Epidemic" in an attempt to show others the terrible deceit contained in New Age thought. (By the way---New Age thought really isn't very "new.") At the same time, I attempt to show the incontrovertible truth of God's Word as the only source of salvation for all people. You may be shocked to find that some of our most trusted "Christian leaders" such as Rick Warren and Brian McLaren, are embracing these most dangerous lies, and "watering down" the true Gospel , in order to create a more palatable "Christian" product for the consumption of the masses! Read it and review it---you won't be sorry!!!

I am surely going to read this.. I see too many people following Rick Warrens teachings even here in Australia.. Very dangerous. I wonder what Ravi Zacharis has to say about all this?? I may look that up also. Thank you!!!

Curtis Chamberlain | 5 comments Thank you Crystal. I hope you do read it, and I pray that you are blessed for it.

I love Ravi Zacharias---he always has something great to teach! Wonderful author---wonderful man of God! His book, "Why Jesus?" is a good one to read on the subject of New Age prevarications. Many Blessings, Crystal---and be sure to tell me what you think about "The Judas Epidemic." I love constructive criticism!

Curtis Chamberlain | 5 comments The most dangerous of New Age lies is really the oldest lie ever spoken in the Garden of Eden---the lie that New Age thought has always been centered around---that we can be as God is. It was a lie then, and it is a lie now. The moment that we start believing that lie, is the moment we start on a path that leads away from God. (Genesis 3:5/Matthew 7:14). This lie is so dangerous because there are so many that are deceived by its sweet sound. I have such a burden on my heart to warn people of the danger of this lie!

Marilynn Dawson (songdove) | 47 comments Way to go, Curtis! I grew up learning about these concerns, and you're right, the "new", in "new age" is very old indeed! You are also right in that many of the new age ways of thinking have filtered into the church, particularly into Christian counseling arenas. I shudder at one very clear memory I have of a pastor's wife trying to teach "memory healing" in a way that rewrote the memory! Last I checked, God removes the sting of that memory, He doesn't rewrite our life's experiences. *sigh*. . . Congrats on writing this book! May God's blessing go with your words wherever they end up.

Curtis Chamberlain | 5 comments Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, Marilynn!

You are also correct---apostate dangers are becoming more virulent and numerous---your "memory healing" example is a perfect one.

Many postmodern churches are now teaching things like "contemplative prayer" (transcendental meditation), and are holding "Christian yoga" classes. Oh, the danger of it!

The truth, with a few little lies sprinkled in equals deceit. Remember Galatians 5:9--" A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." When the church lets in a little leaven, it contaminates everything, and "changes the truth of God into a lie." (Romans 1:25)

We as Christians really need to be aware of the "wolves in sheep's clothing" that would destroy the church from the inside, and reprove, rebuke, and exhort when needs be.

Again, thank you for your Christian encouragement---it is a great blessing to me, Marilynn! Hope you pick up a copy of "The Judas Epidemic." I know that reading it will be a blessing to you also!

message 7: by Ron (new)

Ron Leonard | 4 comments In the 70s my father used to be into anything and everything occultic that offered him power. How strange to see some of the exact same practices in the church today. You'd think they would at least use different words or something. I'm a Christian Counselor and some of the people that trained me are advocating we go to our happy place and invite Jesus to meet us there, just like they do with spirit guides. I guess that plain old prayer isn't cool enough.

message 8: by Steve (new)

Steve Stroble Curtis and Ron:
Thank you for obeying the Scripture to "overcome evil with good." You are on the front lines; I am not; but at least I can pray for you.
Reading your posts lifted my spirits by realizing there are those unwilling to compromise.
thank you
