Daniel For our moderator pick this September, we ended up selecting something a little off the beaten path. Hailing from Spain and weighing in at a mere 74 pages, here is the pick for next month:

Down the Rabbit Hole by Juan Pablo Villalobos Down the Rabbit Hole by Juan Pablo Villalobos

Any book described as "darkly comic" usually elicits a broad range of opinion, so discussion on this novella could prove very interesting. Hopefully we'll see you there!

Thanks for listing what was under consideration. I can see from the description and reviews of the book why it was picked, but they also cause me to decide to skip it for now. It's nice to know the books that were also considered. I am about 3/4s through Life After Life by Kate Atkinson and it has quite an ingenious structure, and the story is good too! Bobcat and What We Talk About are on my TBR shelf. Nice to see that short stories are considered. Some of the best short stories I read recently are in
Battleborn by Claire Vaye Watkins. A very nice debut collection by a very young author. She's gotten a fair number of awards for it.

Daniel Ben: So glad to hear it! We're always thrilled when people are excited to join in the discussion.

Linda: It's encouraging to hear that our book listing is appreciated. Thanks for those kind words. Battleborn also looks like a fine collection. I hadn't heard of it before, but I've added it to my TBR list.

Lit Bug (Foram) | 32 comments I've known very few 21st century works, and have read even fewer - but I'll be glad to read these works now - have been deep into classic literature for too long - more than a decade, and it almost became stifling for certain reasons.

The blurb sounds inventive - I just hope I can get it in time to join the discussions.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) Cool, sounds good and the academic library I work at has it! Should be a breeze.
