I am about 80% through this book, and I've enjoyed it quite a bit. I was initially concerned that the author showed her hand too soon: I thought I knew who did what to whom from the early chapters. Yet Gerritsenhas held me captive with surprising twists and turns, and there is more to the story than I first believed. This is a smart, well-crafted mystery. I trust that the author's research in Egyptology and archeology is accurate, and it seems that she was thorough.

I first "met" Rizzoli & Isles through the television series, and I have not read the books in order. There are some differences, and I was expecting this version of the relationship between the women to mirror TV. It does not, which does not bother me, but it requires some adjustment on my part.

I completely understand!! I started with the books and the tv show definitely different! I've had no problem separating the two in this series, but I've had a big problem with the Bones books and tv show. So much so, I haven't read the books (started and stopped) because it was SO different!

I liked this story, but the resolution--maybe I should say resolutions--seemed to keep coming and coming. I like unexpected twists, but so many near the end becomes too contrived.
I miss the relationship between Detective Rizzoli & ME Isles that is the cornerstone of the television series. Still, the story is well-plotted, and I enjoyed this read.

I started off trying to read her books because I like the tv show so much. Would you recommend starting off with this book? Does it matter if you read it in order or not?

I'm not sure since I have not read the books in the beginning of the series. Since the characters are a little different fro those in the TV series I sometimes feel like I missed something.

Hello I would recommend reading from the start. Just like in a TV series each book/episode builds on the previous book/episode. Some authors all the books are stand alones but in this series they are not. You won't understand some of the things going on in book 7 if you haven't read the previous ones. Things from previous books are mentioned across the series. I hope that helps.

Yes, thank you. I wasn't sure if they were stand alone books or not.

I gave this book 4 stars when I read it back in December, 2015. I thought the mystery was very interesting and intriguing, and I loved the characters. I was inspired to start watching the TV show (mostly on DVD) and enjoyed the show as well.
