Luis Peluffo | 2 comments Just finished reading "Apocalypse Z; the beginning of the end" by Manel Loreido and it got me thinking.

What would you do if you survived?

Let's assume some millions of humans survived the apocalypse worldwide, maybe more. The modern society as we know has obviously collapsed, so there are no limits to what you could do and where you could go. Zombies are slowly dying and getting fewer and fewer.

John Pollock (handlex1967) I'd strap on my katana and go huntin'!!!

Glyn Gardner | 37 comments Oh, as a nurse, I'd set myself with a group as their "town doctor" and maybe benevolent leader. I'd make some laws, and try to get some semblance of society back.

Luis Peluffo | 2 comments My take would be to find me one of the coolest yachts (the kind than only millionaires can buy) stock it up with food and gas and other essentials and head the long way to an nice Caribbean island (I live in UK). It would resemble a new discovery of the "Indies" like a modern day Columbus since I have no clue about sailing, but hey I know the world is round and that I will hit land eventually if I keep going due east.
Eventually I would settle on an island large enough to be able to live on the land (or whatever) find some people somewhere and get a tan... No f... up rules like the Governors from Walking Dead. Just make due and make life as cozy and nice as possible.

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments I think it will be easier to live off the ocean than the land. Just think how life will flourish in the ocean when all those fishermen are no longer depleting it every day.

I used to like the idea of an island, but now I wonder if that might be a problem, since it might be attracting any number of visitors. Even conquerors. Maybe a para-military group that decides it would be a good base of operations.

So, not only do you need to clear the island, but you may need to defend it.

And scavenging the nearby islands or mainlands may be difficult, since you'll have a limited number of places to enter and exit.

*Suzy (ereaderuser)* (suzyereaderuser) I used to think I would head to Catalina! Now Randy has me thinking. :)

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments I've read several books where people head to Catalina, only to find it already occupied by a tyrant and thugs running the place.

Steven (tbones) | 92 comments Oh this is easy...if I was at work and it started...raid the beer cooler...bringing a few bags of chips along :O) At home well the folks up here are all armed and pretty much self sufficent with growing food and all on well water so probaby block off the end of the road with road blocks...oh and my father in law and brother in law are beer making masters :O) So I think I would probably stay put up here...oh and I now have a friend that knows how to fly choppers and planes so maybe we could do a little smuggling if we needed to :O)

Mike | 48 comments I would go to our ranch which is about 50 miles away from civilization. It has unlimited food, power, fuel, water, etc.

And, if others know that, visitors. Some desperate for help. Some desperate to take it away from you.

It's far from fool proof, but it beats staying in town and scavenging. Also, if the Z-virus jumps to our cattle... I'm screwed.

Just make sure and kill the first couple of people who try it. Post their heads on the barbed wire. The next guys might just get the idea that it isn't worth shopping here.
