Nikki | 67 comments All information taken from The Mike and Patty Show - Part 5 video on Mercy's Garage YouTube channel.

The anthology is titled Shifting Shadows and will be released in the fall of 2014. YAY!
Shifting Shadows will have all the published short stories from MercyVerse (minus Alpha & Omega). It will have "5 or 6" new ones.
Ben will have his own short story. It's how he won a bet with Adam that he won't swear for one whole week. This is the story of that week. (Sounds like so much fun!)

Patty also mentioned a new Tom and Moira short (who we know from their short story and Hunting Ground).

Also, the story of how Sam and Ariana met. This is not a happy story (Patty stressed this). But in this story you get some information on Bran's origins and get to meet his mom!

I don't know about anyone else but I am super excited! So far, sounds amazing!

Carolyn F. Thanks Danielle!

Nikki | 67 comments I know. I feel really odd, putting this out there and it isn't even announced on Hurog.com yet.
But I sat and watched all 6 of the videos and this is what was said. I'm actually very afraid the title's going to change or something and I'm going to look like an idiot. lol
But, either way, exciting news! I can't wait to read the one about Ben. It sounds hilarious and Patty couldn't stop giggling while talking about it.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
NO worries. If it changes, we'll change the thread title. I am jazzed about the news and I think others are as well. Thanks, Nikki!

Keri (keri_45) | 8 comments I am doing a cheer right now, my kids think I am crazy. :-)

message 15: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 297 comments Hey, MY kid reads the books as soon as she can pry them out of my hands. So the fact that I'm cheering out loud--when she found out WHY, she joined in. (Of course, she's also 38 and my grandkids are convinced that their Mum and Grandmum are both crazy.)

message 16: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I'm bad, my daughter is only 15 and I let her read the series. The only scene I think is sketchy for her is the rape scene. Almost all of the other sex scenes are done off camera.

message 17: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 9 comments Hurray :D! But fall 2014 is so far away ;(

Oh, bummer!!! Sobbing right along with you, Ann aka Iftcan...

message 19: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 297 comments Carolyn F.--I was letting my daughter read pretty much anything she wanted to at 15. She was reading at a college level at 12, and was a fairly sensible kid. And while the rape scene IS the only really sketchy scene I can think of too, it was also really well DONE. (I used to volunteer with a Rape Crisis Center.) And I liked that Patty had Mercy still coping with the rape all the way up til this latest book. Rape is something that you never really get over. It's like PTSD--it will sneak up on you when you least expect it and hit you over the head with a 2x4. I have friends that were raped and, well, they were the ones who told me that. One of my friends, it's been almost 35 years, and she said she can STILL see it clear as a bell whenever it suddenly rears it's ugly head again. And she's been through therapy 3 times for it.

And now--you suppose we should get a little calendar that counts down til the new books come out??

message 20: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I felt that way about it, of all the books I've read I think it was dealt with well and not too much nitty gritty detail that would make her have nightmares.

She's been describing some of her YA books though and there are scenes that would have made me second guess letting her read them in my books - BJs, etc. But then my mother let me read anything (and I mean anything!) when I was young, and except for a couple of days a month, I'm pretty level headed.

Yeah, I just finished a YA book and it didn't even have detailed sex scenes, but the sexual language was so frank. It's kinda horrifying how sexually active and sex-fixated teens are nowadays. I think if I was raising teens nowadays, I'd probably want to keep any eye on what they were reading. Not saying no to everything, but definitely have some oversight. I think PB books are fairly YA friendly.

Has (has_bookpusher) | 17 comments There is an update for Shifting Shadows anthology! This was posted at Mercy's Garage Booklikes page - but here's the relevant info on the stories that will be included in the collection.

Shifting Shadows anthology: Fall/Winter 2014
Includes all these previously published stories:

Alpha and Omega novella (From On the Prowl )
Star of David - David Christiansen short story (From Wolfsbane and Mistletoe)
Seeing Eye - Tom and Moira introduction short story (From Strange Brew)
Fairy Gifts - Thomas Hao introduction short story (From Naked City)
Gray - A short story about a vampire who returns home and is reunited with a ghost from her past (From Home Improvement - Undead Edition)
In Red With Pearls - Kyle and Warren short story (From Down These Strange Streets)

Includes these new stories:

Silver - Bran and Sam prequel story that has become a novella
Redemption - Ben short story
Roses in Winter - Asil and Kara short story
Hollow - Mercy short story
Silver Borne outtake - Sam's POV (Ties into Silver)
Night Broken outtake - Adam's POV

And Patty has confirmed that she will be working on 4th A&O book which will be due in 2015. She's also aiming for Mercy 9 in late 2015 but it probably will be fore 2016 - it just depends on how writing goes for her this year.

After this she wants to do a Tom & Moira book.

I love the Curran POVs for the Ilona Andrews stories so I'm loving forward to Adam's.

Yes, I love that cover. I'm definitely going to splurge for it in hardcover.

message 30: by TWiser (new)

TWiser Is the Adam POV at the end really only 2 pages?

message 31: by Rosa Hope (new)

Rosa Hope (rosahope) | 1 comments Oh yes please! I would love a book with Tom and Moira! I bought that anthology for just that one story! I am excited for another Alpha and Omega too!

message 32: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 297 comments The Adam POV is 4 pages TWiser. It's just a tiny little window that Patty said that she wanted to put into the book but couldn't figure out a way to do it without unbalancing the book.

Oh, and she has a little blurb at the start of each story, telling when it's set and what caused her to write it.

And I'm with you Rosa Hope--I'd love another Moira and Tom book. And Moira's name kind of made me want to thank my parents for naming me after Great-Granny Annie instead of some character from a popular book/movie. Something that I never thought I'd do. Great-Granny Annie was more than a bit of a wild-child. She was married EIGHT times to 7 different men (much like Liz Taylor) and had children by the first 5. Of course, #1 was also #5--and he was my Granddad's father, so it was very interesting at family reunions. . . (And Great-Granny Annie was born in 1873, so, as you can tell by her birthdate, 8 husbands was not something that you could get away with, without a lot of scandal and gossip.)

Do you think the background is ok, or do you think she'll be upset that I used one of her dismissed book covers? I like it, but I don't want to upset her.

message 41: by Has (new)

Has (has_bookpusher) | 17 comments I am sure she will be ok with it and if I can recall she pretty liked it - It's a beautiful piece of art and I wished the TBTB went with that.

Gerd | 30 comments Having read "Shifting Shadows" and more to the point having finally read "Alpha & Omega" I have to admit that I'm glad not to have read that story before I picked up "Cry Wolf" -(view spoiler)

However, loved, loved, loved "Roses in Winter", it was worth reading for that story alone. (view spoiler)

message 44: by Jadzia (new)

Jadzia | 2 comments Having read Alpha & Omega I don't think Charles was trying to intimidate Anna at all. His wolf wanted her from the beginning and Charles was having a hard time controlling his anger over the treatment of Anna. After he told her his wolf has chosen her Anna's wolf became very interested.
I really like the effect she has on Charles and the way he makes her feel. He is so careful of her and I think has to restrain himself from overprotecting her.
