For those of you who enjoy challenges, I borrowed this idea from another group and tweaked it for a biology themed challenge.

For this challenge, books read will be considered "credits" toward earning your bachelors, masters, and phD degrees at Bio-Nerds University (all biology majors of course!) I have loosely based the requirements on the US college education system. I will be dividing the challenge into levels (freshman, sophomore, and so on). To complete each level you must fulfill the reading requirements for that level. You can then move onto the next level.

Each student can keep track of their progress adding their own folder to the group page or they can add their own bookshelf and add any books read to fulfill the requirements. If anyone is unsure how to do this, or has questions, please ask and I can assist you. Once you have completed a level, please send me a PM with your level completed, and a list of books read for each requirement and the dates finished. I will be posting progress and graduations as people acheive their goal.

I will post more specific requirements for each level, but here are the general rules for this challenge:

1. The challenge begins today, August 14. All books must be read after this date and you cannot use any books previously read for this challenge. There is no time limit for this challenge, you can take as much time as you need.

2. Re-reads and audiobooks are permitted.

3. Unlike actual school, you will not be graded. This challenge is just for fun and a great way to challenge yourself to read.

*Extra credit!*
For many of the book requirements a biological theme is not necessary. However, if you read a book that matches the book requirements outlined AND relates to biology, extra credit will be given for each book. If you read 3 books that meet this criteria you can graduate with honors!

Bill | 13 comments Thanks for putting this together, Megan! I'll give it a shot. One question though: do books started before the 14th but finished after count towards the challenge?

Again, thanks for all your efforts; it's greatly appreciated.

Bill, any book you finish after the 14th can count, regardless of when you started it. Also, you can read a book for another level ahead of time, they do not need to be read in the order I put them in.

I posted the requirements for all challenge levels. If anyone has any questions, comments, or something is unclear, please don't hesitate to ask. Again, this challenge is for fun and meant to encourage us to read, learn, share book recommendations, start discussions, and hopefully learn something. So good luck and have fun!
