Tell us what you will be reading next here :-)

I will be reading Gone Girl or The Lifeboat next I think.

message 2: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 16369 comments I am just about to start rereading Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy which is BOTM for another one of my groups. Last time I read it was in the late 1970s so I have pretty much forgotten it...

Once I am finished with the three books I am currently reading, I think I will try to finish The Other Queen. I have had it since September.

Next up for me is The Red House Mystery by A.A. Milne.

I found Gone Girl to be quite frustrating at times, but I loved it because it was very unsettling and intense.

message 7: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 4177 comments I plan to start The Light Between Oceans next, but I also need to read The Fault in Our Stars for my real life book club!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

@Alannah - I have heard a few people say that about it. I think it's probably a love or hate kind of book. I'm reading it to see what all the fuss is about haha!

@Shirley - The Fault in our Stars made me bawl like a baby (in a good way) lol. I hope you enjoy it :-)

So do I, but I don't like really sad books...

Petra | 3324 comments I started a very light, entertaining book last night: Two for the Dough. I wasn't completely sold on the series after reading the first book but a friend told me they got better?

I read that a few months ago. I'll be interested in comparing notes when you finish.

I can't help as I am unfamiliar with that series. But summer is a perfect time for light reading!

message 13: by Akylina (new)

Akylina Becca, I'll agree with Alannah, Gone Girl is quite frutrating at parts but gripping nevertheless. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to read this one :)

Shirley, good luck with The Fault in Our Stars. I don't think anyone can escape crying by the end of it..

Even though I'm not yet done with my current book, I might start reading After Dark tomorrow while travelling.

I think I loved it simply because I could not put it down and I was still thinking about long after I had finished. I absolutely love books that can mess with your mind a bit.

Unfortunately, I didn't finish it. I didn't get past chapter 2 before I gave up. Wasn't enjoying it at all, so I quit and deleted it from my Kindle account. Glad I only lost 99 cents!

Too bad you paid anything as that is in the public domain. I thought it was mediocre rather than terrible - I liked the main character but the solution to the mystery was quite obvious early on.

What kind of mysteries do you prefer?

I like Agatha Christie and cozy mysteries. The problem I'm finding now is that cozies have some things in them I don't like - they don't seem so "cozy" anymore if that makes sense. I guess I Iike the good old fashioned "weekend at an English estate/country house" type.

Dhanaraj Rajan | 2962 comments I might start very soon with Sebastian Barry's The Secret Scripture.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

@Shirley - Get your tissues ready, lol ;-) It has enough wit in it to not be a depressingly sad book though.

@Akylina - Thank you :-) I'm reading it now and am hooked already.

@Alannah - Yeah I like those sort of books too. I love a good plot twist.

I can't say, Laura. They are light and somewhat entertaining but I'm not completely pulled into them. I love Grandma Mazur. She's wonderful.
I think it's worth looking at the first book, if you can get a cheap copy, to see if you'd like them. You'd fly through a copy in a couple of hours.

message 24: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 16369 comments @Elizabeth - have you tried Ngaio Marsh or Patricia Wentworth?

I will be reading the 3rd Inspector Morse book next (The Silent World of Nicholas Quinn) for a buddy read, followed by Phineas Finn for my Trollope personal challenge...

message 30: by Amber (last edited Aug 25, 2013 06:47AM) (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'd like to after I finish No Return, I'd like to read The Way of the Swordand book three The Way of the Dragonif I have time. The one I am currently reading is taking up all my time because I started reading it after I finished The Fault in our Stars. They go back to my library on the 1st with The Fault in Our Starswhich I currently read recently and it was a pretty good read. The Young Samurai series is a pretty good series thus far so if I have time, I will read books 2 and 3. I am also ready to read Doctor Sleepwhen it comes into my library after September 24 and Styxxthe next Dark hunter novel from Ms. Sherrilyn Kenyon when it comes out next month. I will also be getting Defiancefor my 26th birthday on September 26 and I read what the book was about and it looks like an interesting read. So I read what I can pick up at my local library when they come in and more.

Laura I can't help it, it screams 'read me, read me'! Who could resist? Plus nothing else on this shelf really strikes my fancy at the moment and Zola will need to be swallowed later this month, but I promise I will wait for you to discuss it.:)
