"C'mon, just one song." he said with a smile.
"Fine." I sighed. "But-but just one."
My fingers flew over the piano keys, my voice harmonizing perfectly. I closed my eyes, feeling the song. I felt myself hit a rough patch, and I stopped suddenly. I opened my eyes to see everyone staring at me, jaw open. Tears pressed behind my eyes, and I turned away. "I can't do this."
"That-wow, you're amazing!"
"Whoa!"
"Oh my gosh!"
I almost believed them.
Tears pressed behind my eyes. My lip quivered. I stood up and left the room.
He followed me outside.
"What's wrong?" he asked softly.
"No." I whispered. "No, how could you lie to me about that?"
"What? you were amazing!"
"You said..."
"What is it really?"
I sobbed. He looked me in the eye, turning my face so it faced him.
"I'll tell them to go."
I nodded, and he disappeared. I looked over the railing of the porch we had been standing on.
The ocean.
I closed my eyes, and let the noise and scent envelop me.
He came back out.
"They're gone."
"Kay."
"I'm going, too." he turned to leave.
"No-please don't." I protested. He looked at me with an eyebrow raised.
"You up for surfing?" I asked, cocking my head. He laughed, and I did too, the past ten minutes momentarily forgotten.
For now.

NOTHINGNESS
Like black paint
Or a blindfold
No sight, just
Nothingness
Footsteps
Dark tunnel surrounds me
In every direction, midnight
Never to see the light of day
All we can do
Is walk
Walk down a never-ending
Tunnel
Of Despair and darkness
Whispers of hate
Fill my ears
I can't stop
Just walk
While the light in my eyes
Slowly fades
Melting fast
Like my will to live
Nothingness
Dulled by hate
And destined
To walk forever
Down this tunnel
Where the rocks poke at my toes
And I am alone
Until
One dot
Less than a dot, so small, faint
But still there
Light
Life surges once again
Through my bones
Wild as rivers
I run a bit
Growing nearer, it's still there
Not an illusion, real thing.
Many miles off
Walking again, but now
With a light in my chest
A small light, known as hope
One day I shall be there
Out of the gloom
Misery
Silence
Until then I shall hope
Though the Nothingness still reigns.
(Sorry for this "random spam" but when is this one gonna be over? I wanna see who won)

Speechless. Watching. Just watching, never touching. Not yet.
It glowed, with colors so magnificent that I couldn’t move. Hypnotized by its power. One touch would bring you power beyond your wildest dreams.
He nodded at me. I stepped closer, only inches away from the colorful sphere. Reaching my hand out, I hesitated.
“Touch it,” he commanded. My hand barely scraping its surface, I felt a small, electrifying shock buzz through my body.
“When do I know,” I whispered.
“Not until a full moon comes, Rayne. Then you will begin to realize the power you now have.”
“Thank you, master.”
“Leave my presence.” He replied harshly. I stepped into the shadows and out the open door. I crept quietly down the hallway, down to my room. Although there was no need to be quiet; everyone already knew that tonight was the night that I was to pay the master a visit.
