What, for you, makes a good book club? Have you ever left a book group because of the way it was run? Why are you part of a book group?

Hey Mariah! I believe a good book group should have diversity, variety of discussion questions and an understanding to know that there is no right or wrong in your opinions. ... and there is always room for cupcakes and coffee while discussing! just saying :)

catzkc | 2 comments I don't seem to have good luck with book clubs. Of course I don't have as much reading time as I would like (and I'm not a fast reader), and I have a huge TBR pile I'm dying to dive into. So there's nothing worse for me than to take some of that precious little reading time to read a book someone else selected that I end up really hating. Every once in a while there's a gem I discover because of a book club selection, but it's been very few.

Pam (psvogt) | 31 comments One of the fun things about all the book clubs at MCPL, is that if I find one that's reading a book I already read and liked, I can just show up and discuss it! That's how I got hooked on the "Just the Facts" book club at the Woodneath branch. It's a non-fiction group and I noticed they were discussing The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, so I skimmed it aas a refresher and joined the discussion. I've continued attending since I read a lot of non-fiction.
