Regarding those Author Discussions - maybe the whole Cassandra Clare thing would be a good topic to start that off?

Love the idea of author discussions part.
It's okay to ignore the NFL (National Forensic League, not football) stuff if you'd prefer. I just think that it'd be a good place to get support if needed/talk about the season, etc.

Team vs. Team and Person vs. Pers..."
Looking forward to these stuffs!
Team vs. Team and Person vs. Person debates: I'm thinking that, in true NFL spirit, we should have mock Public Forum, mock Policy, and mock Lincoln-Douglas debates at some point. To begin, however, we may just keep it general and call it team vs. team and person vs. person. I'm thinking that maybe the general ones could be weekly, and we can elect our best debaters to "tournaments," which would be the specific event debates.
NFL stuff: Topics to discuss how we're doing during the season, tactics for debate, help with making a case, or help with interps. We could also have a thread with ideas for platform speeches, or just OO's and OA's (in the words of Marie :)).
Author discussion (In the words of Billie) "What about asking people to comment on something like an author? I saw an anthology somewhere of top authors of the 20th century or something like that, included in the list was Joyce Carol Oates, which raises the question for me of what is the criteria for ranking someone as a top author. Is it the number of books sold? How many books they produce within a period? How critics receive their work?... "
