Hello!

In case you missed it, the Longlist for the Man Booker Prize was announced in mid-July. Here are the nominees:

Five Star Billionaire by Tash Aw
We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
Harvest by Jim Crace
The Marrying of Chani Kaufman by Eve Harris
The Kills by Richard House
The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri
Unexploded by Alison MacLeod
TransAtlantic by Colum McCann
Almost English by Charlotte Mendelson
A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
The Spinning Heart by Donal Ryan
The Testament of Mary by Colm Tóibín

The Longlist will soon be shortened to the Shortlist and the winner will be announced on October 15, 2013.

What do you think? Have you read any titles from this list (and if this year is like last year, some of the books may not yet be available in the US)? Are there any titles you'll add to your To-Read list?

And for a bonus question - what's your favorite Booker-Prize winning novel?

Jim | 289 comments Never heard of any of these. Doubt I will be adding them to my to read list.

I love Jhumpa Lahiri's short stories and a friend of mine raves over everything by Ruth Ozeki. I have also wanted to read The Master by Colm Tóibín so I'm sure this latest book will get added to my to-read list, too.
